Yes it would, the thing is we don't know even if Legion will have SP like we do in dust. Making it difficult to move over.
But I am in huge support of this, still.

Sign here and tell them that being 'iffy' about it wont do. DUST 514 needs a future vision as we were promised. If that's an eventual port to PC and/or PS4 then we should keep EVERYTHING we have done so far for and within it.

I don't want full character transfers. I would prefer character progression translation, leaving behind ISK and items.

The thing that troubles me is that I heard that Soney actually owns our data. I hope that's not true because Soney has a history of screwing their consumers over: removal of Linux support, failure to warn consumers after a security breach, Monster Hunter 4 not porting over because they didn't want to share a newer iteration of Ad-Hoc Party with anyone outside of Japan. So no matter how badly we and CCP may want to carry over are progress to Legion, if Soney has rights to the data, we could all be screwed.

I would have expected the developers to have figured that out beforehand, as it is a critical issue.

Sony doesn't own our data. It's stored on Tranquility, CCP's server that powers EVE Online. Though they currently hold our logins/emails. I would expect CCP to push DUST players to link their characters to a CCP account through the website as part of the translation process.
