WTF?
Funk when did you turn fanboy?
The point is CCP told us over and over and over, for 2 years, there was a 10 year plan - to hold onto hope.
And now they ended. And right after they just took off omega boosters from the market - wonder why?
CCP Is not a company to ever be trusted again. How do you know Legion won't suck and it gets deleted off PC to port to PS4 because they couldn't find a way to control the rampant hackers?
It's all BS, stop finding ways to be a fanboy.
FYI - Sony will never let CCP keep the data. GG |

And let me get this straight, the fact that I'm not savagely attacking CCP as if they've committed genocide or something now means I'm a fanboy? I'm being real here. CCP had a tough decision to make with DUST. They made the right decision that will allow them to fully realize the game they envisioned. Of course it pisses people off because they see their characters as some sort of investment. All that ****, ISK, SP, KDR, it's all numbers that could just as easily disappear had CCP come out and said "Hey we're filing bankruptcy and CCP is now closed." Who would you complain to then?
Face it guys. This outrage about Legion is all a big farse from the true fanboys who love to overreact.

I don't want to agree with you. But in light of the reality that I see especially given the limits of the PS3. I have to agree with you.
I will admit that there was a point in my time playing Dust that I looked at my PS3 one day and thought "Man, I don't think this console is ever going to help Dust deliver on the promises."

The reason they don't know how they'll handle characters yet is because they're moving to a new node-based skill system instead of level-based.
Which is why I'm just putting my character into cold storage. I have doubts that my stats will port over to the PC, but when it does I will at least be ready.

Funkmaster Whale wrote:All you guys crying about how DUST is dead are seriously failing to realize the big picture here.
Let's face it, DUST has evolved very little over the past year. Yeah, we've had a few new maps, weapons, the like, but nothing in terms of actual gameplay that truly revolutionized the way we play this game. This comes part and parcel with the fact that the PS3 just does not offer enough processing power to truly bring this game to the next-gen.
Now, some of you may say, "Why not just port it to the PS4!?" Yeah... and then what? When the PS4's turn is up do we just keep moving to the next console, constantly having to spend months/years of development time reworking everything for the next console to come? That's nonsense. Consoles are simply not feasible for designing the type of game CCP is dreaming of, and I'm entirely with them. PCs have been in the running through all the console wars and not once has anyone claimed "The PC is dead" with any serious merit.
Consider also this, much of the reason that we don't see updates nearly as often as we'd like is due to CCP's relation with Sony. If you didn't already know, CCP has to have their patches "approved" by Sony QA before it can be unleashed to the public. This creates a load of issues between CCP and the players in terms of allowing them to get active feedback from their updates and in turn acting on that feedback. On the PC, CCP could easily release updates on their Test server and adequately test them prior to releasing them to the public. There's just so much more possibility between CCP and player feedback that will be possible with a PC port. Literally everything that was stopping them from envisioning DUST on the PS3 is nonexistent on the PC, barring current technological restrictions.
The PC will be able to handle infinitely better graphics that can STILL be turned down if you run a low-end PC. Every PC game offers graphical settings and modifying config files to allow you to play games even with a crappy computer. CCP will no longer have to worry about technical limitations on maps or limiting this game to 16v16 because of memory restrictions, processing power, etc. We'll finally be able to have massive scale battles that will look beautiful and truly give an immersive experience.
I know a lot of you are crying because you want CCP to magically make DUST work on the PS3, but the reality is that it just doesn't. The PS3 doesn't offer enough leverage to the developers to truly allow them to do what they want. By switching to PC, CCP devs are now free to experiment with so much more and in turn give us a greater experience.
In short, stop living in the past clinging to false hope. Accept reality and the fact that DUST on the PS3 is not feasible. Yes it's a slap in the face to the people who are devoted consolites and have played this game for years, but the time is nigh to take DUST into the future.
I apologize earlier for shoving it in your face, but this is my best attempt at an objective analysis on why CCP is doing what they're doing, and I truly believe it's the right way forward and will continue to support them.
Dude, you just don't get it, none of this is why we are pissed, we are pissed cause most of us have been trying to get our character up enough to compete with people that have been playing this game for a year, you don't HAVE to buy boosters cause you already had 50MIL SP. But CCP knew what they were doing and shoved SP events and boosters down our throats and I happily ate it up cause I wanted a CHANCE TO NOT BE STOMPED ANYMORE. CCP told us Dust was going to be like EVE, and around 10 years, we ALL knew it was broken, we were waiting for fixes, not this ****.

Amazing isnt it, he wrote all of that rubbish and got all of those likes basically admitting that CCP is inept and hope to get a fresh start on a platform where their poor development skills arent put to the test.
I mean we knew the PS4 was out late last year, PC has always been there and it took them so much time to reverse course ???
That means not just their programming skills should be questioned, but their organization, time management and leadership ones as well.
I am not a person to swear off a company so I may play this new game in the future but surely wont be holding out hope or putting up with any nonsense blind admirers post about CCP

Most rational people understand that the game had to move to another platform to ensure its long term survival.
The problem is that CCP made no mention of how Dust was going to improve from now until Legion's release. Since Legion isn't even at ALPHA stage yet, that release could be a long ways off (possibly years).
What new content are we going to see on DUST from now until then? Not a word. What about fixing matchmaking? Nope How about AV-Vehicle balance? Who knows? A revised NPE on the horizon? No again. Any word on a player driven market? LOL.
The only thing we learned for sure is that PvE isn't coming to the PS3.
Worst of all, they can't even confirm that our character skills/assets will transfer.
So why put any more time into a character that that might not make the leap to PC?
Legion is nothing more than a TECH DEMO. What about the game's development today?
This was billed as a DUST Keynote and we didn't hear anything about DUST, you know, the game we actually have right here, and right now.

Maybe.
While it is far to early to try to characterize Legion (I'm going to anyways) from what little information that has been doled out; it seems to be a little more MMO and a little less FPS than where I thought DUST was heading.
I'll support legion once I finish wiping CCP's love for the DUST community off of my forehead but with less enthusiasm and less trust in their 10 year plans and laser-focus

a couple points;
"the PS3 just does not offer enough processing power to truly bring this game to the next-gen."
it doesn't need to be a 'next gen on ps3' game, but if it could get to be as good as some ps3 games that came out years ago that would be nice.
""Why not just port it to the PS4!?" Yeah... and then what? When the PS4's turn is up do we just keep moving to the next console"
yes. that's how console players do things. every 6 years go get the next console. in a 7 year span a pc player is quite likely to drop another 400 on their pc set-up. the non backwards compatible ps3 came out jan 2007. what 400 dollar computer from jan 2007 could play the AAA ps3 games that have come out recently.
"The PS3 doesn't offer enough leverage to the developers to truly allow them to do what they want. By switching to PC, CCP devs are now free to experiment with so much more and in turn give us a greater experience."
a lot of the problems with this game have been that what ccp wants is the problem. no one was calling for skirmish 2.0 but hey we got it . we waited months to get different racial variants on our suits , they said that it was because the art team had to build the suits. they easily could have just released the suits looking the same but possessing different stats and then changed them when the new models were finished. sure moving to a shorter f..k up/fix cycle would help, but they have hot fix options that they can use but don't even try. for example in a game that has constant balance issues why aren't we seeing constant fluctuations on the price of items.
"Accept reality and the fact that DUST on the PS3 is not feasible."
its feasible now, your playing it. The things we want are feasible, PvE is not some magic thing that has never been attempted on a ps3. player trading is not a super taxing system that couldn't be realized on a ps3.
"In short, stop living in the past clinging to false hope"
this is why we are angry that our hopes have been false. ccp is the reason we had these hopes. before it ever left beta they should have learned to manage expectations. but they kept saying soon. |

Roy Ventus wrote:DeeJay One wrote: PC is no different than a console, but you essentially have to buy a new console every 2 years instead of 5-6. Games also need rework, to accommodate new technologies like DX11/Mantle or stay with sub par graphics (see WoW, TF2) because their playerbase doesn't have new gear. IMHO it's not really an argument...
You don't have to buy a console in every two years... That's a lie told by PC fans. Even back I the day that didn't happen. As we progress consoles take much longer to come out. PS4 took what? Seven years? We don't share the same custom ability and versatility as PCs but we're cheaper and easier to maintain for the common man. You completely misunderstood my post - it was about the PC having to be replaced every 2 years;)
As for the other comment, I have a PC which is one year old which cost me around 600 USD (that's more than a PS4), and it can't run all the new games in 1920x1200 on max settings without the framerate dropping below 30 FPS. So please tell me how your 2 year old 350USD PC can run BF4 in Full HD on max settings and keep you competitive online... Also if you buy a new graphics card every 2 years for 150USD - you have bought a new console even though the "old" generation isn't dead yet. No to mention the additional RAM or CPU upgrades (have you seen the recommended Watch Dogs hardware requirements) |

the argument for why they are doing this seems legit to me, however they way they did it is what I have a problem with...
it doesn't matter how good this is for the game... it's just a game... they f'cked over real people here, took their money, blew hopes and wished up their a$$es, and then dumped them like trash, people who put a lot of money in this game, went to fanfest, gave critical feedback...
ccp should have known from the start they couldn't have done this, eff this hind sight 20/20 BS...
they put this on a ps3 a year before next gen consoles, and they acted like they knew something we didn't "trust us"
they open a micro transaction store "invest" "10 year plan" "trust us"
and they constantly let us down, but we stuck it out, because we STILL believed they knew something we didn't.... well they did...
they knew they couldn't do this once it was to late so instead they sucked as much money out of the community as possible, even to the point of getting dust supporters to pay for fanfest just so they could tell them we are pulling the plug....
what @$$holes! yes?
so, fine, its better for the game, great.... they lost a lot of customers today, and if they keep treating their customers like this, if legion flops, they will lose a lot more....
f'uck the game when you're ****'ty to people.
this game makes me sad....
