How could they not see that this announcement has basically killed dust. For the majority of players anyway.
CCP knows many people keep playing partially complete CCP products on the promise that it will bloom like eve did. Except we get CCP laughing up thier sleeve "Whoops, sorry, **** you customers".
Essentially CCP has used people to beta test a game concept as asked us to pay for it.
They delivered only vague, basic gameplay compared what was promised. Then they have the cheek to back peddle and release on PC which is what everyone asked for in the first place.
Whats worse is, CCP are a professional games company, if the PS3 couldn't support thier orginal vision why the **** did they release on that platform.
The goals of business is to make money and support society by providing jobs and income (aka "stakeholders"). That paradigm does not mean you have license to **** over a loyal consumer base.

Also from the blog, "We had to build the right ecosystem incorporating a fun and balanced competitive shooter; player vs. environment allowing for emergent behaviors; a player-driven economy that is distinctly CCP; and deep immersion that brings it all together. We realized we would never be able to do it by iteration" So they are straight up saying Dust 514 will never have the right ecosystem and a fun and balanced competitive experience and PVE. They're not committed at all.

(*except were things are actually impossible in which case we'll gloss over it and hope nobody notices, until we get your money, then we will tell you to go **** yourself).

You don't get it.
They just killed dust.
Why would anyone spend another dime on obsolete software on obselete hardware.

"One of the highlights of our DUST 514 Keynote was a sneak peek at Project Legion, an early prototype that a part of the team in Shanghai has been working on for the past few months."
One of the highlights....
THE ONLY HIGHLIGHT.
The only thing you can take from the keynote is Dust 514 is dead, long live Legion. The reason, because the said bugger all about anything else.

Meanwhile we'll be making the game we fooled you into thinking we were making on PS3, only it's on PC. TROLLOLOLOL" They have one chance: Let us port our characters over. This brings up another question btw.: Will they use the opportunity and make Legion a game with monthly subscription?
Yeah. They would have to be ******** not to offer a free transfer for those who want it.
Or if they are really really clever, they have the two games as a feature allowing players to use the same character in either game.

Fire of Prometheus wrote:wait so is dust moving to PC?
Nope, they are taking dusts original vision and moving it to PC because the PS3 never could support it even though they tried really hard.
In hindsight it seems like Dust 514 was a console demo of a game concept that only really works on PC.
CCP says they will continue to support dust, but since the poplulation is going to go on a socialpsychological death spiral, they might as well close the servers.

I sympathise but you are wasting your time, because you got use from the product.
Essentially you got what you paid for.
