Shotgun has better alpha damage.
Shotgun has the ability to interrupt reload at any point and start firing again.
WHERE IS YOUR COMBAT RIFLE NOW? (oh yeah, it's laying on the ground next to the clip you dropped when I shotgunned you in the back of the head)
Both weapons have advantages and disadvantages, but to be perfectly honest, I just ENJOY using the Shotgun more. |

That the reason I sue the SG lately. Its more thrilling despite all the whining here I love the thrill it gives me to sneak behind an enemy knowing if he sees me I am dead (and yes I still die a lot cloaked or not doesn't matter)
And than the thrill whether the SG hit will be calculated correctly or is just another full hit without applying damage...
With the CR it is more like get into flanking position and kill by tapping the fire button a few times before the enemy has a chance to react...(unless you encounter a brick tanked heavy of course...) |

Shotguns are better in CQC maps where there's more cover.
ACR is better on those big open maps.
Shotgun is better against lots of heavies, ACR is better against lots of infantry.

I suppose next you're going to tell me the LAV is like a tank, but is faster, turns better, costs less, and has similar damage output?
Apparently 0-20 damage and 20-1500 damage are the brackets you use.
I had a guy militia shotgun me yesterday for about 1100 in one (obviously HS) shot. I've never, ever, not even once done that much damage with my CR. not even a proto CR with proficiency 5, in one shot, let alone before the enemy even gets a chance to react. |

IMHO the SG is lacking in a bit in CQC encounters once you have OP 5 its too easy to outstrafe the SG  . In those situations the ACR or CR works better.
But regarding heavies your are spot on even though it can take up to five shots you can at least kill a heavy in one clip. With the the CR/ACR this is more difficult... |

Man what the hell did he hit, you're talking the trifecta here to get that damage. Guy had to be proficiency 5, you had to be shield tanking, AND he had to hit you in the head. Might even need a few damage mods on top of that. Plus hit with every pellet. Highly rare to get that damage, seriously may happen once in your Dust life.
You would hate my Plasma Cannon, you'd be amazed how much damage that does in a single shot. With Pro 5,headshot, and shield tank you could easily clear 2k. You know it's not about damage per shot.
