How to balence the comabt rifle:
- Decrease assault rifle fire interval from .08 to .075 (this gives the AR a ROF of 800 and a dps of 400 at the standard level)
This means the assault combat rifle is no longer overpowered
- Add a burst delay of .06 seconds to the burst CR (would give the standard CR a dps of 385)

No. If you nerf the CR, then people will go to something else and then you will want that nerf. You cannot nerf humans' ambition to win which drives them to pick up the most versatile weapon to help them achieve that goal. We already did the RR that way, lets not repeat with the CR.

360 DPS is rather low.
A burst delay of 0.2 seconds is enough.

Logic? How about thinking a bit broader and more objectively? If you nerf the CR, people will go to something else. Once you see the killfeed and your deaths come from that weapon, you will cry nerf that weapon as well.
The CR is fine. It's a pain but its fine. It's doing what it was made to do, just like the RR was before its nerf.
Why even have other rifles? Do you not realize that perfect weapon balance across all weapons is unobtainable? One weapon will always be stronger than another and weaker than another.
Again, the CR is fine. We are now talking about the CR because the RR was nerfed and people switched to another strong weapon to compensate. Do you not see that?
Truly pubs are a terrible place to decide what is OP or not because the setting is not competitive anyway.

I guess triple rep tanks are fine Perfect weapon balence is impossible Good weapon balence is not The combat rifle is not close to balenced

A large portion of CR balance can come from removal of that slowdown mechanic when hit by bullets. It will also help fix HMG troubles.

But we aren't talking about those topics. Make a thread and I will offer my opinions on those, which vary. We are talking about the CR.
So your response logic is bad. It's an assumption which also declares how you view my post in black and white. Interesting, since I stated we should look at this from a broader aspect instead of the tunnel vision.

Remove slow-down effect and everything will be smoother. Even though I use the CR myself. That reload is so cool. Its a silenced, harder hitting cooler looking AR. Never underestimate the AR though.

It deals 540 dps at standard leve with a 55m optimall. No other rifle even comes close. What is the point of the AR if it kills slower then the combat rifle AND has less range? |

Why is balance unobtainable? I hope Devs don't think like you. You don't aim for balance then you only have CRs on the field.
People who have fully skilled CRs are terrible at balance, they cannot see past their own weapon.
What do you think is being used in competitive environments? Let me tell you it's not Ion pistols and Plasma Cannons.

Surely you read that entire sentence. ...perfect weapon balance across ALL weapons. Then I go on to say that one weapon will be stronger than the other.
Ok, if we want to talk about CR, then let's talk about the Viziam Scrambler Rifle which destroys me on field so quickly I barely have time to react. Is it balanced?
I don't know how the VSCR has gone on without any talks about it and that weapon has claimed more clones than RR and CR combined.
Am I the only one who understands this? That when you nerf one weapon to make it weaker, the next strongest weapon steps up and people skill into that, then community wants that nerf.
The community cannot accept that a weapon is just lethal and to avoid it as much as possible? I don't get that.

I saw that LONG before the majority of general discussion decided to talk about CRs all day. No, the general discussion community didn't because they were too busy talking about RRs
Lo and behold, even pre 1.8, PC players weren't even using RRs like that. It was mostly CRs because of its effectiveness. Now everybody catch up to yesterday news after the pub players stop using the RRs and go to CRs.
Like I said, pub matches are a terrible place to judge weapon balance and changes from. Most of the nerf requests come at the end of tears and people not knowing how to lose properly.

If I didn't know any better I would say that was a strawman argument. If I am wrong or you do not know what a strawman is you are completely disregarding providing something that is worth saying to the contrary besides making it sound like you want to protect the CR at all costs.

Great. Another one of these threads. First it was the RR, now the CR. I doubt half the people that QQ about the CR have ever even touched one. It definitely doesn't outperform the ScR or the RR at long range. Sure it outperforms the AR in CQC, but instead of nerfing the CR to flaylol land how about the AR gets buffed? Enough of this "its better than the AR so it must be OP" nonsense. All of the rifles are currently better than the AR.

Just for some context, I decided to look up some specific stats (that I think are important) of the rifles and compared them. I looked at DPS, effective range, damage per clip, reload time, and max ammo.
Here's the number (all from ADV variants):
Combat Rifle DPS - 567 ERange - 77m DPC - 1,530.9 Reload - 2.6s Ammo - 324
Assault Combat Rifle DPS - 400 ERange - 77m DPC - 1,360 Reload - 2.6s Ammo - 408
Assault Rifle DPS - 393.75 ERange - 71.5 DPC - 1,890 Reload - 3.0s Ammo - 300
Rail Rifle DPS - 379.62 ERange - 93.5 DPC - 2,072.7 Reload - 3.2 Ammo - 252
Scrambler Rifle DPS - 802.94 ERange - 88m DPC - 3,071.25 Reload - 2.5s Ammo - 225
==============================================
Here's how they stack up in order of best to worst:
DPS: SR > CR > ACR > AR > RR
ERange: RR > SR > CR/ACR > AR
DPC: SR > RR > AR > CR > ACR
Reload: SR > CR/ACR > AR > RR
Max Ammo: ACR > CR > AR > RR > SR
===============================================
The point I'm trying to make here is that I don't think we should be looking at nerfing the CR, but buffing the AR. The SR is best in damage, the RR is best in range, the CR is best in ammo. The thing that is painfully clear from this "chart" is that the AR under performs in pretty much every way. The best place it ever comes in is third, and is at or near the bottom in the two most important categories (DPS and ERange). All the other rifles have some things they are really good at, and then are sort of decent at everything else. |
