this is the same for every first person shooter, but it's not understood. if you're too new to the game to understand where the 'front line of the battle right this second' is, then you need to be following. not hacking some far away piece of equipment. not going off to hack an objective where you think there's nobody watching. not sniping an empty field.
play BEHIND the guys who are doing the killing. you might even steal some of their kills and have your best game ever.

You cant say stand behind anyone. WTF, when I am running AV and keeping the tanks away or busy I know for sure I will not go over 20 kills unless the other team is running a lot of tanks. So your argument is invalid. |

Heeeeeeey, I guess depends on the situation, though as a vet. and now a heavy, there is rarely anything more annoying when you got a target in front of you, to start shooting it and having a blue berry step in front of you acting as a shield for your almost dead victim, giving it time to retreat... at least one advice I can give is STAY THE HELL AWAY from a friendly heavy's line of fire... jeesh.

nothin personal but generally you want the HMG sentinel in front of your much squishier suit(unless its an open area then by all means ladies first  )

Well, I use a squad missile tank, so I'm usually getting a lot of WP for tank kills and such but the Infantry killed by my tank is usually 90% by my gunners. I rarely get over 10 kills but I get 1700 ish WP. Between me and my gunners we get around 35 kills combined, but I've gotten as many as 15 infantry kills in a match using this tank.

Yes I regularly get 15-20 kills, but I do it by hacking some obscure yet important installation, hacking that point with just a few people guarding it, holding that flank no one thinks anyone will try.
So umm, should said guy follow me to where he was gonna go anyway or does it just entire.y deconstruct your whole arguement?
This is not a standard FPS, the battle lines last much longer and chamges based on flanking and logistocs.
Unless your a Computer Scientist don't tell me how Game Mechanics Work.

i once went 40/1 one match.. the funny thing though i was at the objective closest to my teams redzone in a heavy suit the whole match with an hmg. also was guarding the supply depot in that skirmish.
another time i ran inside a small bunker with a large pillar in the center.. whilst in my mlt scout with mlt shotgun.
lets see.. i had a rail tanksticking its turret into the bunker trying to kill me. heavies that kept going in and dieing shortly after. occasional med frames and a rare proto suit running in and dieing to my shotgun. i kept alot of their team distracted. then one of my squadmates put re on the tank and blew it up. i kept alot of them distracted. i think they were scared to enter..
i normally get around 20 kills with mlt though.
mlt vets are eternal. they shall be the bane to proto scrubs everywhere...

When a really high-killer is on the scene, it goes something like this:
Step 1:
"Oo, gunfire over there somewhere. Hey, that bluedot is doing pretty well. I'll head that way and see what he's doing...."
Step 2: (gets there)
Step 3: "huh. nobunny left 'round these parts but blues.
Step 4: go to step 1
END: KDR 0/0/0 (if you're lucky, and no sniper/tank/whatever has taken you out while trying to follow around "the cool dude")
My WORST games, are when mr. 20(,30,40+) kills is on the scene.
My better games happen when the rest of my team is average at best.

I rarely get 20 kills a match but the only time I ever stand behind the frontline push is when I'm guarding a friendly objective everyone has abandoned.
What would be the point of a scout with a pistol, uplinks and hack mods chilling out behind friendly lines? I guess I could eat a sandwhich, man a turret or generally just get in the way.
Seems like a ton of fun.
I'd rather guard a blue objective I just hacked close to the enemy redline while the rest of the bad boys catch the **** up.

I have found trying to follow the best slayers only gets you killed or with nothing to do though.

I've won matches getting 0/0 before and also the realms of 2/0 and 3/0 because while my team were hacking points A, B, C, and D (all points were in flux the whole match) I was the one to go around to E and hack it at the right times.
K/D is not everything. |

I have also seen many matches where no one does...
and I have also seen matches where only the tankers do....
I think 20 kills a match doesn't say much about anything...
this game makes me sad....

Camping an ambush spawn point in a blaster tank doesn't count.
You didn't do that by running around with a rifle. At a kill rate of 1 every 20 seconds over the course of that match they wouldn't even have time to spawn and run back to you fast enough. |

I could easily stay invisible on my Scout a whole match just hacking and still top the score board without getting a single kill. Just because someone is not getting huge kills doesn't mean you are not contributing. Killing 20 guys isn't going to win the match. The people hacking the objectives and taking away CRU's and Supply Depots from enemy use are. |

I actually do this with the laser rifle. Understanding that the laser rifle is great at range, and also great at ripping red dot shields to shreds, so typically I'm pulling overwatch / direction / suppression for the team. If I'm lucky, and not running with proto stompers, I can easily surpass 20 kills in an ambush (also depending on how much I want to kill steal from my fellow blue dots, I try not to be a douche majority of the time). I feel a lot of snipers would be happier if they went laser rifle instead of sniper rifle. |

I don't always have 20kills a game because i'm fighting tanks.
I don't always have 20 kills, but i'm the one who protect the objective from hacker, i'm the one who hack and i'm the frontline guy who strip shield of every one with my Amarr commando and Holy light of gods Scr + Laser rifle.
Even if i'm okay with you about the fact, following the team is important and playing "solo" is stupid and don't help. |

the lr is a great weapon for playing backup. it's almost an on-field sniper.

Actually in my long Dust career the times I did best were usually when I used to play logi. got very few kills, but was repping and reviving so much I would beat the super slayers when it came to warpoints. Now I can average easily over 20 kills a game in my HMG equipped Sentinel, but I don't get half the warpoints I used to get as a logi. Hehe, if I didn't enjoy slaying so much in a heavy I'd go back and spec again in logi suits just to get this weird 5/11K/D 6000 WP feeling.

When I was a blueberry I got maybe 8-15 kills per match, but also had quite a lot of deaths.
Personally I feel that as long as you're getting more than 10 kills in a match, it doesn't matter how many times you die.
But if your gungame absolutely sucks, or if you're getting stomped, at least get to the top of the boards by dropping some uplinks or getting a few revives/triage points.

I did this in MAG
it's a great suggestion and while your behind him watch him and learn
learn what he does when he reloads, approaches multiple targets, how he uses cover.
