An overheat mechanic would be a nice balancing point without some massive nerf. I mean, a Krin's can overheat, supposedly, so why not an ACR?
Let's say you can only fire like 75-80% of the clip before it seizes up unless you ease up on the trigger for a second?

Stop trying to make it a stand and deliver weapon .......... Do you think the main users of minmatar weapons which is is minmatar suits can afford to fight long firefights ? That's a losing proposition right off the bat for the Matari . The problem is the CR is too effective on suits other than the ones they were truly made for . ( Not to say they aren't effective on Matari suits. They are but it's balanced by the generally lower health of them )

I skilled into the CR during 1.7 when I was brand new. First place I put my SP as a newbie. Did some math and felt it was clearly the best rifle. Reload time, RoF, DPS, some with scopes etc.
Back then (2 months ago) nobody said "boo" about the CR. I mean NOBODY. Everyone cried about the RR and tanks. I can tell you without bias that the CR feels reduced in effectiveness post 1.7 just as much as the other rifles that got adjusted (reduced or nerfed whatever).
I firmly believe after spending my first two months of DUST playing with various weapons and reading this forum that the community latches onto something and decries it as OP. It used to be RR and tanks (which they absolutely still are) now it's scouts and CR. I query you what will be next?
Someone says CR is OP, rumor gains traction, so more people run it, so more people get killed by it, so it must be OP right?
We, as a community, apparently just need something to vilify, complain about, blame and project their frustration towards this game on.

There were plenty of people complaining about the CR in 1.7, RR just took the brunt of the ridicule.
The weapon is better than all the other rifles (yes RR included.) Has sidearm level fitting requirements, better damage profile, very little kick, no overheat, very high rof, and long range. The only negative ammo consumption.

Grab a 10 Dollar Mouse from the Dollar store and plug it in and try.
The CR is completely balanced without Aim assist helping 80-90% of the bullets land and register.
Even with your aim perfect with mouse and your target stationary ...you can't land that bullet percentage.

Its DPS is 400, 4 higher than an AR Its range is 4m greater than an AR
it's not nearly as OP as you believe, however projectile damage profile does neec tweaking. Although a 0.5 dmg per shot nerf wouldn't go amiss.

Obviously you do things differently in america, we don't have dollar stores, we have pound shops, which I assumed were the same thing. In which case shouldn't everything in a dollar store cost a dollar, isn't that why its called a dollar store?
Or do you mean the 10 dollar store? That's capitalism I guess.

Is it though? When I run my 100% support logi with no damage mods it struggles to kill anything.
Is it more to do with the fact damage mods counter its weakness to shields too easily?
Personally it never made sense to me why we had mods like this. I'd rather see mods that change the handling of the weapon (on the weapon itself) in different ways - e.g. extended mags. The ability to directly change the DPS of a weapon seems counter productive to weapon balancing.
Why try to make the weapons balanced when a suit with a load of high slots can directly change its characteristics

Love that the best rebuttal to his point that anyone can make is to troll. He is right. The issue is not the Combat Rifle stats it is aim assist on the Combat Rifle. Disable Aim Assist with the Combat Rifle and the "issues" go away. |
