The problem I have is ramming I had a decent fit and dodged fire, I killed 2 tanks, gunlogi and soma, with help of a swarmer for soma, and a gorgon, he had no right to do that, he came from behind at 100 mph

I actually would prefer to know why when two tanks ram each other who should weight literal tons... why they seem to create TP's instead of hurting each other like they should.
Doesn't seem like a broken mechanic to me, but neither is it all that cool that 500k ISK dropship can be countered easily by a MLT dropship throw away.
Maybe a collision nerf depending on meta level?

Ramming should be 'v'alid' only if you have to be going near or at full speed, and only if you have more as much HP as your taget. Nudging another ship should't be enough to explode it. Unless you pack R.E.s on it of course.
OF course pilots should not be immune to collision damage. At the moment however, its rediculous. By the same reasoning a soma merely brushing a madrugar should explode both tanks.

AT LEAST 40% of the time, NOTHIN RENDERS.
Judge has proven it- the 'shimmer' doesn't even render half the time.
That remote the scout threw? Yeah the sound didn't render.
That shotgunner who mowed your entire team down? Chances are it didn't even render the sound ******* correctly.
Who's to say the Dropshipper rendered? Also- with the way Ds sounds are, the growling noise isn't even localised around the DS, just added into your helmet for god knows why.
Only that low, humming noise of the ACTUAL engines.
So yeah.
When CCP actually makes **** render correctly, then ramming can be valid. Until then, it's ridiculous, and it's comical at best.

and it is a valid tactic to counter ADS is to use a cheap militia DS and ram it out of the air.
don't want to lose the ADS... don't use it in pubs then. |

So if an RVD materializes out of nowhere and smashes my dropship, is my fault? Also, when does tapping a building kill you? I've landed my Myron, and thing goes poor because the ground decided I was moving too fast, but in a grimsnes I can do the same landing twice has hard and survive. RDV is very annoying, but if you are not aware of the risks when decending so low and close to infantry, then it is your fault. I get rammed by RDVs alot and most of those are unavoidable, but what it means is that I put myself in that situation and it was my mistake. I curse everytime I get downed by RDV but I don't try to blame anyone other than myself for it.

So much drama on this thread it is glorious.
I do a lot of AV and this is what I have to say out of experience with swarms. You can destroy an assault drop ship with ADV swarms if you fit right and have the proper skills. They are tough to take down but you have to engage on your terms otherwise you are wasting swarms. I love dropping proto fit assault ships that get right up on you then realizing a little too late that volleys of seeking death missiles are hitting them. I do lose some expensive suits going after them but that is just the way it is.
Death by collision is a valid tactic, it has been used throughout human history and gaming history. You have to adapt to the situation around you. Do you really want CCP to start duct taping pillows to flying death machines so they can gracefully bump together like clouds?
I do agree that there is something funky with collision detection that needs to be fixed. Some times i land on a building and I am fine. Other times I pop like a balloon. Whenever I fly a Python I already know I am not landing it. I am flying it until it dies or until the match is over.

I don't understand why some people compare tanks ram with dropship rams - they are 2 completely separate things. In real world tanks can ram, but it doesn't mean they g out of it undamaged, they also not instantly explode because of it. At the other hand I did not seen a single planes collision that would not change to giant ball of fire..

The problem with dropship v dropship collision damage is that, in all situations....
Gallente > Caldari
Regardless of whether its a militia/standard/proto ship (not that tier should make a difference here)
The end result is that Gallente ships have an extra tactic against Caldari, i.e the 1-tap insta-kill that leaves the Gallente ship pretty much in tact,,, and the Caldari one flaming to the ground....
If DS collisions should insta-kill because they're flying deathtraps... then fine,,, but it should be insta-kill for both ships involved,,, particularly as the 'attacking' ship typically has way more momentum than the victim ship
Yes this'll still mean militia ships can knock out ADS's,, but so be it-- we can't be invincible flying machines...
Either that, or a DS to DS collision measures the impact and determines damage, rather than auto-assigning insta-kill on the Caldari ship, and minimal damage to the Gallente one.
Just the way it's setup there's a major benefit to having a Gallente ship, which isn't counter-balanced by the Caldari ships by any mechanism (anyone citing speed for this clearly doesn't understand dropship balance mechanics, since the Caldari speed already FAIRLY counters other benefits of the Gallente)
Fine, you can say well... Just use Gallente ships then...
But that would be missing the point of having a game with different classes... why bother having 2 classes if one is fatally flawed against the other? Let's make them all work fairly....
As with landing,,, a little squirt of the boosters before your ship touches down usually minimises shield loss,, though it's tough to land with 0 damage to shields at all. |

Yes i think in pubs it should be fixed so this can't be done. factional, pc, leave it. In factional you can shoot your own team and pc your team shouldn't be that dumb. And I'm talking about blue on blue ramming. I am all for red on red ramming.
however python takes 100% collidable damage and incubus only 55%. I just want conformation that thats not a bug. Amarr are the ramming ship race. can't wait for my amarr version of the apoc lol like 15% collidable damage i would imagian.
- Its not a Tank AV problem its a madrugar regen problem. 2. Its not a cloak shotgun problem its a assualt scout issue.
