When one object strikes another and does damage to both I believe that's called physics not an exploit. Remember risk vs reward, that drop ship they crashed into you cost them money as well, and for that matter if you have little Isk then you shouldn't be calling out the pricey toys if you are not prepared to lose them. |

Collision damage is horribly broken for drop ships. I have had guys ram me at full speed only to be knocked off course and I have had guys not even touch me enough to move my ship and I go to 0/0.
The damage applied by colliding with buildings or the ground is equally as bad. At this point I fly with zero care on if I hit a building due to the fact that it may just stop you quickly and it may just destroy you.
I have noticed some inconsistencies with collisions in LAVs and Tanks as well it is just not as obvious. |

That or get some good headphones/ turn the volume up. You can hear another dropship coming a mile away.

Dropship ramming is hard to do, and doesn't always work. Also you should have been more aware.
The new commandos should have a better paint job. Look at the Amarr one!

I have successfully dodged at times (well thought I dodged) that there was no audible impact yet I still went to 0/0 instantly.
Personally I just want to see some consistency first then it can be balanced.

Its just as valid as when LAVs could brush you on a drive by and still insta kill you. Should we bring that back as well?
You can call it valid when it is backed up by a functioning mechanic and not just a random application of some damage.

I've lost dozens of millions of ISK to ramming, but I don't think it should be removed completely. Just made more like the old tank ramming mechanics, which was so that you needed to be doing at least ~75% of your max speed to apply full damage and even then you only damaged as much as you had total HP left and took as much damage as the person you rammed had total HP left. Now it's more like doing your possible total HP in damage at any speed and then some more. I've been flying over 4k total HP Incubus and been rammed down by damaged Python with less than 3k possible total HP only because he was slowly coming towards me in a dogfight (where he kept missing) and I thought I could take the very slight collision.
The reason I said total HP and not EHP is because hardeners have no effect on ramming as far as I know.

Yeah, it's so cheap. As someone said above, i'd be ok with it if the collision damage made sense 100% of the time. But still it's cheap A.F.

Forges are in an ok place with a decently fitted dropship. You can either kill the forge gunner (highlighted by the giant glow on the ground) or get away from them
MCC damage and ramming goes back to horribly broken collision detection.
The hull should be reduced by 100-150k but should cost more than tanks as they provide a good amount of superiority and in a good pilots hands can survive very well. |

Max collision damage would be a good example of a normal CCP band aid on a bullet wound and fit right in.
Applying the physics of an impact have obviously eluded them in every way. I say they just base it on speed and amount of surface contact and call it a day. Rammers can still ram and pilots can actually avoid if they are paying attention.

So if an RVD materializes out of nowhere and smashes my dropship, is my fault? Also, when does tapping a building kill you? I've landed my Myron, and thing goes poor because the ground decided I was moving too fast, but in a grimsnes I can do the same landing twice has hard and survive.
