I still feel like it is a coin toss between the two. I like having 2 kin cats and 2 reps on my Gal, also having both damage resist for armor. The extra 5% damage resist to projectiles and 4.35% extra DPS for a second dmg mod and higher base armor is really tempting...the thing is which is to be sacrificed in lows? The second armor rep or kin cat?
Speed tanking is my go to for heavies but the option to go back to the bread and butter of heavies, stacking complex armor plates and running with a logi on my as s, is a must. |

Cal is pretty best though, and Min can get some obscene speed going.

Min sacrifices too much survivability for speed, which is an oxymoron for heavies, they are a kamikaze heavy because they have no recoverability if they stack 2 kin cats. Gals can have 2 kin cats and 2 reps allowing them to hit and run, hit and run, hit and run , whereas min hit and run, hit and die. I agree Gal is an anti infantry heavy while Amar is an antiheavy heavy. It is hard to tell which is better because they are both great at their job, mowing infantry down. |

Armor types are for soaking dmg The shield types are for skirmishing. To illustrate: The Minmatar is the fast, weak, but a hmg popping up behind you is a painful surprise. The Caldari is for skirmishing or stacking complex dmg mods. You need cover to use its shield bonus effectively. The Gallente and Amarr are pretty equal, the Gallente for soak (lotsa bad guys) and the Amarr for DPS (hard to kill targets).

Amarr Heavies are still the master race for heavies. when it comes down to 1v1s amarr nearly always wins. I only really kill amarrs with my gallente when I get the drop.
That said, just like SoTa Pop said, gallente heavies have much more versatility. 1.) Tons of armor for that logi bro. 2.) Speed tank fun for pubs 3.) Speed hack for annoying ADS in PC 4.) Don't have to look at amarr heavy in loadout, as in the past year in half.
Min and Cal don't have much of a role in PC. Most of them go down in 2-3 shots with shotgun which is a huge pain in the neck for most.
Scouts rule the land now.... |

Don't get me wrong, I love my GalHeavy(rep tank FTW) but Amarr is just a better suit overall IMO.
Balanced,and unlike other Amarr suits it doesn't give up anything to be badass.

I'll be very honest. Before 1.8 I was Amarr Sentel = massacare mode. Now 1.8 I use Gallente Sentel and so far its good. If I were you choose both
If you run proto gear, prepare to suffer the consequences. You've been warned.

seems like you took that seriously...I really have been liking the Gal Sentinel but I am never very confident confronting Amarr Sentinels. We keep mentioning how wonderful it is to speed tank heavies, it will get annoying once everyone catches on to this. |

In perspective RA, I was planning a heavy tournament in 1.7.....then OH lost ALL our districts. (>.<)
Now....having said tournament in 1.8 means any good Amarr heavies would take it down easily and all other heavy races get out classed.
So really.....any serious heavy NEEDS to go into Amarr sent. |

The Amarr sentinel gets it's 15% resistance to CRs and SMGs as well as the HMG. Then again, if you peek at my sig, I might be a bit biased >.<

The Minmatar Heavy is exceptional with the stamina and speed it can get. I wouldn't consider it viable for PC though, or at least not in direct combat, or close quarters, as heavies are generally used. The versatile aspect of the Minmatar is that it can get the jump on people, including heavies. If you can get a good amount of damage in, before they realize they're taking damage, then it's quite likely that you're going to kill them. It's also ridiculous fun to use. |

Amarr is the only one that can go toe to toe against 2 heavies without a logi. I've done it. Aiming hi drops them quick. One Flux in a crowd of heavies and it is go time with my Amarr Sentinel. Burst and cover, burst and cover. |

Assuming that the two heavies can't aim, which is rare, especially in PC. It won't stand a chance if they focus on to you, whether you have a logi or not. You might be able to take one with you though. |

I have both to proto and I have to say I prefer my Armarr over my Gal at this time. I use a basic dren with MH82 HMG and it does the job most of the time. MY favorite is dropping proto heavies with a basic Dren |

That's what I'm going to be getting this week. I used forge a long time ago on a different character (got biomassed) and loved it. Will be glad to have it back.
