The most fun thing to do in Dropships I feel is stunt flying. Gives a feeling or overpowering manliness of the fear of plummeting to the ground, knowing that if I crash I just blew a very expensive hole through my wallet.
Ones to try: -Backflipping off the edge of one of the towers -Flying through the Table-Top -Flying through the Pyramid (during a Domination when the point is inside for extra challenge) -Triple Backlfip (non ADS) -Helix Dive (Back/Frontflip with a simultaneous sideflip diagonally) -1st Person Speedrun (Flying as low and as fast as possible in 1st person)
I sometimes just spend matches doing stupid stuff in dropships cause hey, if you dont crash or get breathed on youre fine.

Try Afterbuner moves too. It can be used as an air brake or like a cars handbrake to do tight turns. Fly right at buildings and use the AB to do insanely late pull ups to avoid contact, or the same with dive. Charge at the ground and use the AB to stop at the last moment. Or use AB turns, (flick it on as you start the turn, then off again straight away) to do turns as close and tight to tall towers as you can.
You will fail. We all still do. But you will be a much better pilot for it. Piloting is one of those skills where to get up with the best you need to learn were that absolute limit is. THe way you find the limit is when you cross it. This means death, but its a worth while investment.
Shouldve added the afterburner part, but agreed, I taught myself to fly by stunt flying, and it has saved me a lot of isk many times just by my abiliy to quickly evade and outwit and enemy.
EDIT:
Want a real challenge? Fly through the research facility at speed, sideways. Now thats a real isk burner if you cant decelerate quick enough

I don't always fly fancy, but I will when I need or want to. ADS is an entirely different beast though, I struggle to get kills without hovering, and aiming at all is a total *****. To top it off, they're ridiculously expensive, so "crash and learn" is no longer friendly towards my wallet. Ugh.
Ive spent in the region of 80,000,000 isk on ADS', and im sure others have spent far more.
An expensive hobby, it is.

Yeah, must be fun to be an invincible deathdealer, killing people on the ground who cannot shoot back at all (seeing as how tanks can't elevate their turrets high enough, and AV isn't effective enough to prevent you from just activating an afterburner and lifting off at lightspeed and be able to outrun swarm missiles with ease), and only have your own tunnelvision and incompetence to fear since the only way non ADS pilots can shoot you down is when you're not paying attention. Yeah, God-Mode must be hella fun! Btw, aren't you late for making yet another tired thread where you try to push for making dropships even more invincible and overpowered than they are already?
Dropship =/= Assault Dropship
The point of this thread is they are fun to fly, regardless of the ability of a pilot who can blow you off the ground with superior piloting abilities.
