I love my Caldari stuff, I run Caldari everything 90% of the time. Unfortunately I don't really see much point in running Caldari Vehicles instead of Gallente. It just doesn't seem survivable enough compared to the Gallente ones, I mean I get wrecked by proto swarms in a Gunnlogi, but a Madrugar doesn't have a problem. Usually when I'm flying my Python around I have to stay away from most AV, swarms especially hurt considering I fly so low to the ground all the time, but in an Incubus? I have no issue with Missiles really unless multiple proto swarms are hitting me.
I get a nerf was necessary for tanks, but Armor just feels so superior in everything except being able to use an extra damage mod and the ability to turn faster.
Anyone else feeling the same?

Armor has always been superior, CCP need to fix the way shield regens so it becomes a bit more viable, the delay should kick in the moment damage is first applied, then rep through damage like armor reps do.
I mean armor has the ehp and the constant reps, whats competitive about that?

Damage mods in the low slots would fix a lot of this I feel like.. and a reduction to the acceleration of a Madrugar under a fuel injector.
As a Gunnlogi user myself I also feel the Madrugar is far superior of a tank and the triple rep maddy is silly atm. |

Anyone else feeling the same? I like the damage bonus to armor needs to apply to the Incubus correctly, and you should try a 3k+ shield Python. You don't have to worry about those swarms than, at least not as much.

It is a little ridiculous, I felt 1.8 pushed the Caldari vehicles a little infront of the Gallente in all honesty, majority of other tanks I fought were shield tanks instead of armor heavy ones which is a massive change considering the fights before 1.8

There is a problem when it comes to damage mods, going in one area or the other, Apart from Nitro or a scanner, what else goes in a high for most Gallente Tankers, whereas Caldari Tanks can actually dual tank a little easier, perhaps passive damage mods in the lows? Or different kinds of things in the lows for us to use? Personally I'd rather see a regulator so I can decrease my shield delay.

The Incubus still beats the Python, atleast in terms of endurance, however I've been part of 3 man Pythons with Missiles and Damage mods, it's a terrifying thing

Its just community response to game changes. Gunloggis in 1.7 could rock a large extender and 2 hardeners and with good mod management be nigh unbeatable, after the changes however it shows just how much an advantage having ehp is, triple reps being the most obvious abuse of the fact.
At the very least the situation has many missle HAV become a bit more easier to field, alpha salvo being able to swap armor HAV outright. 2/3 missles miss the mark however a triple rep HAV will laugh at that **** in seconds and be at full health. Honestly have no idea what CCP is doing with it.
Right now it is better of fitting a Sica with 2 damage mods and a rail at MLT level than it is than fielding a decent Gunlogi rail fit, you get the same results for 1/5 of the cost.
Imo HAV needs to go back to 1.6, currently they are too simple and fall into FOTM standards as soon as CCP alter something. MLT Sica/Soma will trash proto squads, STD AV is still useless against them.
Caldari Vehicles still have their uses, but the Gallente can field better variants because of the hardener nerf and the fact ehp will win all stand up fights.

Well, triple hardeners is the way to go if you want to play one with some tanking power behind it. Or the way I do now, triple damage mods and stack armor in the lows. I've been running that A LOT recently and slayin like crazy with it (Many times, I kill without the mods up).
Sure AV can be a pretty big issue, but I generally can manage with just a few swarmers and Forgers hitting me (or trying). But I know what you are saying
I do agree, the maddie basically sits there and takes it like a champ, were the gunnlogi must stay mobile. As for my python, double hardeners basically eats most swarms np, the issue is usually the kickback from them. Even then, unlike the incubus, I must fly away to recharge those hardeners, where the incubus can eat them all day long.
I said it when the announced they were nerfing hardeners, all you really hurt is shield vehicles.

First of all, shield tanks aren't bad at tanking, don't listen to these guys saying run triple hardeners, if you get snuck up on while running triple hardeners 3/4ths of your shields will be gone before you even realize they're behind you try one extender, one hardener, one damage mod/another hardener.
Second, it doesn't matter if you're slow. Hit and run doesn't mean you have to be fast, but if it really bothers you run a fuel injector instead of your second hardener.
Can't aim down... yes I will admit this is a problem, it gives armor tanks the total advantage in certain situations, but as I stated before, if you surprise the tank from coming behind them it doesn't matter anyway, they'll be screwed.

I would like to add: Caldari rely on being slow and having high amounts of shields while using long range weaponry
Gallente rely on being fast and regenerating their armor, rather than having lots and lots of it
CCP did everything in reverse :S (Except for the regeneration part, but they still have high armor)

I don't know if you play Eve but seeing how ships work in Eve, it seems like caldari should NOT be the hit and run tank, that niche should be taken by minmatar tanks. Caldari tanks should favor strong shields and longer distance engagements where other weapons are hitting in fall off.
This is why I say damage mods should be low slot mods. Caldari should favor strong shields and high damage at range (railgun) not this high maneuverability shotgun style play with armor plates and damage mods like we have now.
Madrugars should have higher manuverability and should favor active tanking (with armor reps like now). In fact the armor reps would probably be fine as they are if caldari tanks had damage mods in the low slots.
This is all imo of course.
A high slot mod for better agility like a nanofiber structure (-% base armor with +turn speed and accel) and a tracking computer (faster turret rotation) as high slot mods would really make maddys shine in their role as close range brawlers. Higher base shields with a slight reduction in turn speed and low slot damage mods would make caldaris shine in their role.
We also desperately need racial parity with HAVs so these roles can become more defined/apparent. |

Do you? He's actually right for once; I definitely have no compunction about calling him out when he's wrong, but that implies that I should have equally little for supporting him when he's right.
Go have a look at the damage profiles for railguns that CCP supplied, then go check the ADSing ones provided ingame. Even test the damage if you must.
CCP did this, as so many other things, bass-ackwards and rails deal blaster damage.
Which roots Gunnlogis even harder, tbh.
