My life view is that I should put as much effort into not being offended as I try to not offend others. When it comes down to it, name calling is name calling, pure and simple, and also childish and petty. To be offended by it would make me childish and petty, no matter how vulgar or obscene the name calling. To let someone else dictate my emotional state by choosing to be offended at childish, petty name calling makes me feel cheap, like a tool to be acted on rather than a person to act.

If I were really angry I would have used more caps, swore more and less proper grammar. I am under no obligation to block people just because at some point in time they *might* be an idiot or a bigot, however it *is* the obligation of the forum moderation to remove posts like the OP's, because no one needs to nor should they have to read someone spew that crap.
Stop trying to justify someone elses bad behavior, or negate the validity of whatever emotion anyone might have (if they have any) towards it, especially in such a petty manner as calling them 'oversensitive'.

At no point did I imply that I support hateful or intentionally malicious behavior or speech. I also never implied that in every case the target of such maliciousness is simply being oversensitive. While "subspecies" is technically true, I think some people may see that as offensive because of the prefix "sub" which means below, under or beneath. Some people see this as saying that some races are "beneath" humanity, when in reality, it just means that all races are more of a branch of humanity. We all belong to a subspecies. I think its more of a misunderstanding than anything, and usually, no offence is intended.
I tend to think of the human races as separate subspecies in the same way we consider certain birds and fish that are completely identical in every way other than the color of their plumage/scales different subpecies. For all intents and purposes, we are pretty much the same, but scientifically, we are different subspecies due to different skin color, hair color, and slight variations in body shape and size.
Its just genetics and the theory of evolution. We were separated long enough to develop into different variations of the same species because

This is what i was trying to get across, i just don't have as fancy speech skills as this one here. also, i am not the guy from whom which this thread was spawned from. the thread was asking which country's players tanked the most in everyone's opinion. or something close to that. |
