You let your emotional state be dictated to you, and you're more than happy to pass off the responsibility of securing your own happiness and peace of mind to corporate policies or law protecting you from harassment or any perceived slight.

The world would be a better place with less assholes trying to be offensive, sure, but it would be a much better place with less people being offended by, when it comes down to it, the most trivial and petty of things.

Straight up. I was probably needlessly serious for a shooter game internet forum, but race relations is something I'm passionate about, and constantly being offended at at every little thing isn't the way to make them better.

While "subspecies" is technically true, I think some people may see that as offensive because of the prefix "sub" which means below, under or beneath. Some people see this as saying that some races are "beneath" humanity, when in reality, it just means that all races are more of a branch of humanity. We all belong to a subspecies. I think its more of a misunderstanding than anything, and usually, no offence is intended.

I tend to think of the human races as separate subspecies in the same way we consider certain birds and fish that are completely identical in every way other than the color of their plumage/scales different subpecies. For all intents and purposes, we are pretty much the same, but scientifically, we are different subspecies due to different skin color, hair color, and slight variations in body shape and size.

So, yes. You can use the word "subspecies" or any other nonoffensive words to describe a race. Any one who does get offended by these things are a bit too sensitive. Saying someone is Caucasian or White isn't offensive, but saying they are a "Cracker" or a "Whitey" is. The same is true of every race.
Context and tone matter as well. Even the correct words for these races can become offensive in the right (wrong?) places of if the wrong tone is used.

The OP is in fact correct here, and acknowledging that us humans come in different colors shapes and sizes should not be considered offensive, because its true.

It's a sensitive topic that can cause problems. Race topics can start a domino effect, leaving people highly upset and offended. You have to choose your words wisely. What's funny to your group of friends can be absolutely offensive to another. You must have tact.
