My life view is that I should put as much effort into not being offended as I try to not offend others. When it comes down to it, name calling is name calling, pure and simple, and also childish and petty. To be offended by it would make me childish and petty, no matter how vulgar or obscene the name calling. To let someone else dictate my emotional state by choosing to be offended at childish, petty name calling makes me feel cheap, like a tool to be acted on rather than a person to act.
That being said, because corporate policies and national laws support us lending ourselves to be adult sized children, IB4L.

Plenty of people will take balance with you all day - until you don't even attempt to talk balance and just start calling names and making slurs.
See this? That someone could be so indignant, so upset, so full of righteous fury (sounds like I'm a pompous ass) over something so inconsequential as some douche bag posting nonsense on an internet forum... You let your emotional state be dictated to you, and you're more than happy to pass off the responsibility of securing your own happiness and peace of mind to corporate policies or law protecting you from harassment or any perceived slight.
The world would be a better place with less assholes trying to be offensive, sure, but it would be a much better place with less people being offended by, when it comes down to it, the most trivial and petty of things.
If the post upset you that badly, the responsibility should be on you to block that user, not on CCP to lock the thread and protect your emotional state.

Straight up. I was probably needlessly serious for a shooter game internet forum, but race relations is something I'm passionate about, and constantly being offended at at every little thing isn't the way to make them better.

Stop trying to justify someone elses bad behavior, or negate the validity of whatever emotion anyone might have (if they have any) towards it, especially in such a petty manner as calling them 'oversensitive'.
At no point did I imply that I support hateful or intentionally malicious behavior or speech. I also never implied that in every case the target of such maliciousness is simply being oversensitive. I even added that the world "would be a much better place with less people being offended by, when it comes down to it, the most trivial and petty of things." I freely admitted that not all things are trivial and petty, but that, I feel, a vast majority are. If you feel that I've said the thing you say I have, it's a misinterpretation and misunderstanding on your part.
