It's not what you know, it's who you know. People just starting out have an uphill battle for recruiting, but it's entirely possible. just don't expect to fill up with proto slayers right away. You have to build up from scratch. It helps a lot if you, yourself are a solid player (at least a 2.0 or 3.0 KDR, and a positive attitude), this will make people want to group with you. if you get people who want to group with you, they might also want to be in your corp. if they aren't as good as you, then you will have to (politely and carefully) train them to improve.
if you are mediocre at best, and don't have any connections to any good/well-known players, then it would be far more advisable to join a corp first, get better, make some connections, then decide if you really want to strike out on your own.
It's a long road, friend. Travel it with wisdom, not haste. |

hate to say it, but being a logi is no excuse for a low KDR. I am a logi, have been since Uprising (launch). but all through the beta I was more or less an assault/run and gunner.
Protip: Only go repper logi if you have a good (and I mean GOOD) heavy to follow around. Otherwise it's a waste of your time, and KDR.
Then again, slayer logi is a hard pill to swallow right now, due to the derpification of medium suits, and gimpyness of logi fitting space.
Still valid though. I guess what I'm trying to say is, KDR is what people look at for face value on how good someone is. Not even necessarily overall KDR, but game to game. If you go 30-4 in a match without orbitals, I dare say you're probably going to make some friends. that or at least get people looking. if you do well like that in several matches, expect to get noticed.
It's not fair, really it isn't. but a solid player can pull at least a 2.0 KDR, regardless of class/gear. I've been running mostly sub-10k suits, and since 1.8, my KDR has been taking a dive. almost down to 2.0 now. that said, I honestly don't really care about my KDR anymore. Not when you get one shotted by RE's, Tanks, Shotguns, Thales, and road-kills. There's no reason to care about KDR anymore. There are so many cheap ways to die that it actually has cheapened the game. This is why I feel we need ISK efficiency to start taking the place of KDR. |
