I've read/watched all of the guides I could find so far, and I've practiced a bit (I do still need to practice more). I'm looking for someone to help me out with learning to fly and tell me what I'm doing wrong, because they'll know better than I will. Anyway if you can help me learn to fly, we can try to arrange a time for you to tutor me. This novice pilot would really appreciate some help from an expert (or even just an intermediate).
Oh, and just to clarify, I mean Assault DS, I can fly transport well enough. |

The best advice I can give is to bank ISK, cause you will need a lot of it, and to quit flying not type Derps. Until you get the feel of a particular Derp using the others is a distraction, IMO.
Do not get cocky or fly really close to structures. Dust has significant problems with camera position and if the back of your ship gets too close it will suddenly give you a different view. That makes it difficult to figure out how to get out of the situation you just got yourself into.
Don't fly when the AV crowd is busy or using PRO gear. Do something else. Or fly near the back or sides of the battle then make fast strafing runs that allow you to exit the dangerous area and get back to safety, either map sides or altitude.
Do not spend any SP on Caldari or Gallenti ADS until you have maxed Assault Drop Ship Skill to lvl 5. It is much more important initially. All they provide is faster ROF and more ammo. You can still take out turrets and tanks with the amount in the clip anyway. And increased ammo is max versus clip size, clip size is what would help but that is not an option.
Once you have decide what you like to fly then practice it, as you can afford to.
Incubus are heavy, slow and stable weapon platforms. Nice for over watch and squad scanner. Also useful for keeping high surfaces clear. They fly better than their cheaper brethren. Particle Cannons will strip the shields off of anything very quickly, making those that insist on running Sica tanks regret their decision once you find them.
Pythons are sports cars, fast, nimble and fragile. The are very good with missiles (indeed their bonuses are missile related). Getting kills require ADV/PRO for best results, but make an expensive Derp.
And ... everybody loves to kill ADS. So you will die. A lot. Then, suddenly with little warning, you won't.
Good Luck.
And so it goes.
