I would really like to see some specialisation skills added to the skill trees, i have more than one thing that i can do in battle but i do have a primary role that i use, but i'm as far down the primary skill tree as it is worth going so what i'm tthinking is after you have put points into optimization for example maybe at say level three you get access to skills that will increase relative things to your favourite role but are really expensive in sp but worth it. E.g accuracy/range/spool time for hmg, splash radius/charge time for forge guns, lock on distance/speed of rockets for swarm launchers, headshot boost damage/zoom levels for snipers. Yes it would mean that some extra damage could be done and getting some painful experience but it would only be of benefit to those who are willing to specialise as it would cost too much sp for people to just "have a go at". What are your thoughts folks? |

Well...those specialized skills are the ones called "Minmatar Logistics" "Gallente Sentinel" "Caldari Scout" ect. ect.
Like my ideas?

exactly, i was thinking more along lines of equipment and weapons, but bonus stats is a great idea, imagine. Having a logi in squad who can rep really fast or a swarm guy that can really keep the tanks at bay, it would be balanced as those guys have gone past proto into a specialised "branch". |

Sorry for the doulble post but i do believe that this is a great idea that would benefit everybody, or at least anybody that prefers one thing over another in this game and it would also help with the longevity of dust, keeping sp important to people even when they already have enough of it. |

They would need to remake the weaponry skill tree in the EVE online's image. this would also help the new player experience as it would not take so long to get a decent skill level in infantry weapons.
one skill would; -Improve reload speed for all weapons -increase ammo capacity -reduce kick -shot dispersion/spread -improve heat cooling time -improve heat build up -improve CPU fitting -improve PG fitting -operation light hybrid weapons -operation light laser weapons -operation light projectile weapons -operation light explosive/missile weapons -operation side arm hybrid weapons -operation side arm laser weapons -operation side arm projectile weapons -operation side arm explosive/missile weapons -operation heavy hybrid weapons -operation heavy laser weapons -operation heavy projectile weapons -operation heavy explosive/missile weapons
the rest of the skills like weapon upgrades would remain the same.
the operation skill would give the current specialization damage bonus (shields/armor) per level and unlock the basic and advanced weapons. some of the weapons themselves would then on the weapon get bonuses on the operation skill
the specialization skill would unlock prototype and officer weapons and increase the damage that they do maybe by 1% per level as things are atm. and would be specific to 1 weapon such as heavy machine gun, Assault rifle, Mass driver ect.
Edit: I think that prototype weapons/drop suits and officer weapons should be restricted to factional and planetary control game modes only
I don't even know why I bother.

That's a really good idea, it would stop the problem with every man and his dog having proto weapons without spending to specialise, eg people who go sniping just because they're losing as opposed to dedicated snipers.
I think it could do with 2 or 3% at the specialisation point rather than 1%
So you would skill into weapon core skills, then into weapon type, then into operation which is where the specialisation comes in?
I also think that officer weapons should be restricted to pc battles, but proto should be choice as people spend isk to get them and not everybody does pc. |

let me go into further detail with an example
you would spec into light hybrid weapon operation this gives you access to: Assault rifle plasma cannon shotgun rail rifle sniper rifle.
[Edit:If CCP where to implement this idea they would probably segregate blaster from rail.]
getting the operation skill to level 5 would give you 1 step to using proto and officer weapons and the damage bonus to shields or armor could be 2% damage per level so that you would have to specialize to get 5% more total damage adding up to 15%
then you would need to get other core weapon skills to certain levels and then you would be able to train specialization
then you would be able to specialize in a specific weapon like the rail rifle this would be a flat +1-5% damage increase added to the weapon damage before the operation skill. (weapon damage x specialization x operation x suit bonus x damage mods) level 1 in say hybrid rail rifle operation would give you access to the prototype rail rifles level 3 would unlock officer weapons.
I don't even know why I bother.

Ok, yeah that would work, and because specialising comes last the sp demand would be high enough that people who weren't intending it to be their main choice would be put off doing it. They would have to create some of the kick reduction skills etc within the core skills for a weapon instead of them being on operation as they are now, which i also think would be better. Now we just need more people to post +1s. come on folks don't be shy |

This is a bit of a random idea but what if the dropsuit command skills had specialization skills too that applied the extra suit bonuses and also gave the original suit bonuses to all suits?
For example, the Caldari Commando skill gives Commando suits 5% reduction to reload speed of light/sidearm weapons per level and Caldari Commando suits +2% damage to light hybrid GÇô railgun weapons per level.
The specialization skill would give Caldari Commando suits +1% damage to light hybrid GÇô railgun weapons per level and also give all non-commando dropsuits 5% reduction to reload speed of light/sidearm weapons per level and all suits except Caldari Commando +2% damage to light hybrid GÇô railgun weapons per level.
The more specialized you are in a role, the better you are able to apply that role, even when in other suits. |

I do like you idea there but i think it needs a little refinement, maybe instead of all other suits maybe all other racial suits? So your caldari example would then apply to all caldari suits.
I definately think it wouuld be a great idea to be able to place sp into suit bonuses possibly even extra resistances - somethin for defense.
Still suprised more people aren't commenting, i fail to see how this wouldn't benefit anybody as it would apply to everything or at least everybody and allow you to get more out of your favourite weapons, equipment; modules etc as you earn more sp, as it stands you caan cap out your favourite things and then be left with sp being wasted on random ideas.
Come on folks.. |
