I don't play EVE just DUST so I am not sure how complete the EVE models are or if they contain any internal structure. However, it would seem to me that the Dust development team at CCP would have access to or be able to access the same IP as the EVE development guys.
With this in mind I'd think that there are multitudes of 3D models that can be pulled from without having to start from scratch to develop new map features and structures. Fighting around/in a crashed Titan or scattered cruisers on the ground would add some needed variety and add a much needed tie in to the EVE universe that wouldn't effect any of either games mechanics. It would gives us guys on the ground a little more of a feeling that we are in New Eden.
I mean there are already battles taking place around the planets that FW matches take place in. All of those debris have to go somewhere.

I posted something of this nature a while back. I proposed shipyards as structures that could be in rotation. Your average frigate is the size of a jumbo jet, so a partially-built Rifter surrounded by scaffolding would make an awesome place to fight |

On my phone so im going to be brief.
No internal structures in EVE ships, EVE s never had a reason to do such.
3d models are fully externally complete, however, the details and intricacies could possibly melt ps3.
The scale is a bit wonky. Eve frigates are roughly the size of a small-medium building we have in DUST.
But with the remake of titan wrecks in EVE, fighting in one of those "could" be possible. And it would be awesome.
All in all it would be nice but it's not super feasible. ... yet.
There are more problems in the players than in the game.

Agreed. I think that size would be doable for the limits on the engine CCP is using as well. I just don't get the feeling that we are supposed to be part of this huge deep universe with the bland desert we get.

Thanks for the info. Smoothing out some of the details would have to happen from what you described but keep the general shape and coloring so people can recognize the ship. It would be different for once which would be great.
We can always hope for more in the future but who knows.

I'd defend a glorious CNR "in introduction" until my corp wallet was empty.
And Altus, someday. :-D Maybe sooner now that CCP can officially cannibalize the Atlanta office for manpower.
There are more problems in the players than in the game.

You could just downgrade the detail work on them and then have the level design team add all the internal structures required. I personally really like the idea and would be a nice little nod to the overarching game world we live in. Also there could be several ships designed like this in in sockets, so there's a good amount of variety.

Awesome idea and it would definitely be possible with the engine as you'd be removing the need to be rendering large empty outdoor areas with huge skyboxes etc... it'd be amazing to have to storm a big ship from the back whilst the defenders have to defend the front... This sounds like an awesome idea and I'd love to see this some time soon!

you guys are awsome for thinking about the same stuffs. Yers, why is there no construction yard fight? Maybe even a ship could continue to be constructed while the fight is going on. One team to try and sabotage from all angles and one team on the defence(with walls and such, trying to finish the constructions. Meeh, fugde on my 5 cents, just a construction yard art map would be too nice. CPM look here! Salabim! |
