It is no secret that CCP/Shanghai wants you to spend AUR on boosters. Who knows, it might well be their bread and butter. They originally overpriced them and the price reduction down to 14K AUR is finally reasonable. As they are suspect when it comes to math one might surmise that it took several months of not selling boosters for them to pick up on the truth.
We want to reset some or all of our SP. CCP doesn't want that, either Mothership or Shanghai. They want you to grind for SP and never get any back. There is no other way to get their players to grind for seven or more years. That was their stated goal, in case you just joined and didn't read that bit.
So the enhanced SP event this coming week is their compromise. It gets players that have recently stopped playing to come back and grind some SP at a not the horribly slow normal rate. It grants players enough SP to fix some of the stabbing in the backNerf Hammering that CCP/Shanghai has done lately.
And they sell boosters to fund new development. Everybody wins.
Unfortunately there appears to be no funding method for fixing older bugs , see my constant haranguing of them regarding Rail Gun Turrets that do not fire since 1.7 with a similar problem since 1.0. There are not stated plans to fix them, unlike the Forge Guns which have some support from CCP/Shanghai.
Welcome to Dust
And so it goes.

KING CHECKMATE wrote:I would buy a LOT of AUR based SP RESPECS. And many, many players agree with you. In fact I might as well except I have quit spending cash on Dust after 1.0 dropped like the lead bird dropping it was.
From an ethical standpoint it does present a problem. Before you go off let me limit the ethical bit to F2P mechanics in general as any company that sings the praises of HTFU has an extremely limited view of ethics in most cases. At least it seems that way to me.
If a game is truly F2P then anything that can be bought should be available to those without cash as well. And grinding is the accepted solution. Don't have cash, grind. Hate to grind, spend cash.
For now it would appear that CCP/Shanghai is following their path of SP respecs/refunds begin rare to non-existent. Take a deep breath because you will turn very blue waiting for CCP to change their position on this one might suspect.
Also many F2P games use silly and cheap customizations to get players to spend RWC (Real World Cash). Hats come to mind although so do, unfortunately, one single $70 monocle.
And so it goes.

MINA Longstrike wrote:"I want to chase the FOTM, why won't you constantly let me one-up other players with whatever is currently not well balanced just because I'm throwing money at you".
Choices have consequences - skill into something you like and want to do and stop whining for respecs. Something getting 'nerfed' doesn't mean it's obsolete. That sounds great. Like you watched the videos even.
However, their tendency to sell you something then immediately Nerf Hammer it, see Core Locus Grenate AUR version, is not a good way to endure yourself to your customer base.
CCP/Shanghai has never cared about their customers. The do not respect the time players have put into Dust and they constantly yank our chains whenever they decide to. It is getting old, just sayin.
For me the reason for the post was to state that no Kitten, there will be no SP refund. The high SP events are CCP/Shanghai's compromise. Here is SP that you wouldn't have otherwise. Go fix what we changed out from under you.
And yes, often getting Nerf Hammered does make many things useless. At least it does down here in the Dust. Not that they will stay useless forever. HMGs are now useful once again. For how long? That is not clear.
And so it goes.

Of course, I was going to do that anyway so it really is a big surprise kind of a thing.
And so it goes.

For some people , all they have to stand on is their word and their work .
CCP's legs are fragile .
Edit : Find a direction for this game and stick to it and stop changing like the wind blows .
It's making this game blow as well . Well said.
Personally I never read/saw/watched anything by CCP/Shanghai or CCP/Mothership to indicate that HTFU and Decisions have Consequences are not the only marching orders. There were resets during the various Betas because of changes and the desire to test the skill tree (I guess). Plus the let's completely screw up the game otherwise known as Uprising 1.0*. One of the early promo trailers even shows the [u]magically wonderful[/s]stereotypical EVE Ganker withholding an Orbital Strike. Because EVE players.
When I finally got involved with Corps (finally left because of taxes, an EVE level of BS oddly enough) I was joining squads with mics consistently. Met some good friends and pretty much had people to play with from all over the world. I don't operate normal hours usually, my S.O. thinks I am nocturnal. But there were friends to play with and chat made it better.
Want to know how many were on over the last week? Approximately 7. Average squad size is two or three. Soon enough there will be no reason for me to login. Which would be fine except many of my friends are not PC players.
All of which is to say, you are not the only one that is sick of the ever changing winds making Dust blow.
* As a retired software engineer it was horrifying and amusing at the same time to realize that all the Beta testing was basically thrown away as Uprising was essentially a different game. The golden rule for many game studios is iteration. Not at CCP/Shanghai! It's throw that out, another pet project is in this release.
And so it goes.
