Sup guys I'm here today trying to seek help from getting stomped all the time. I suck at this game but I never quit I just want to improve on my gameplay skills. Currently I run adv assault and logi sometimes with either a scr or laser rifle. With these I still can't get kills . I don't know what I'm wrong when it comes to 1v1 fights. I run solo now since I don't get help from my corp and some complaining that I'm not good at all. I really appreciate it if can get some help |

0: Get a squad going, e.g. by looking ingame in the LFSquad channel
DUST's matchmaking is such that it favours squads, often putting 2 or 3 of them against 16 randoms playing solo, so whatever your do, make sure you're in one of those squads.

The Laser weapons are marksmen weapons.
All require greater player accuracy so are not forgiving in 1v1 situations. These weapons excel on the flank or with good positioning against your enemies. The laser rifle in particular only really excels when you have say 2/3 players in front of you pushing towards the enemy. If not its best to keep falling back and changing your position to regain the advantage.
In direct 1v1 engagements the other rifles are more forgiving. I'd say the Assault rifle / Combat rifle are the best in those situations.
In short, pick your battles.

Also, use automatic weapons when it comes to close fights, Scr is not that good in close fights, especially now. Know your range and take advantage of it.

My advice as someone who regularly play against full proto squads; stop giving a **** about the KDR and get them on the ISK side.
However if you don't get kills even with ADV gear don't go running with anything above STD, get your skills up first. |

Sounds crazy but run starter fits so you don't have to worry about ISK and you can push hard and try things. They are good enough to get kills but bad enough to make you work hard.
Other than that just get in a squad and if you can find one that uses coms then even better. Stay close to cover and don't be afraid to try crazy fits, there may be a fit you haven't used that suits your style more than what you are using now. The SCR and LR are difficult to use sometimes - especially the LR - and the overheat will get you killed or straight up kill you on its own. Stick close to a group if running solo and just keep at it.
I don't play any FPS because I suck at them and they are very boring to me so my gun game is junk, I can get kills but not like some of the players here. Figure out what you are good at and then practice that role and slowly move up through the tiers starting with core skills like shields, armor, CPU, PG, scanning and speed. If you are good at getting into cover then try a shield setup but if you like to get in close and brawl then armor may be better for you.
It is all about how you like to play and what you are good at. If you can find a good role that is a balance between the two then stick with it for a while and perfect your skill set. There is a spot for everyone in this game you just have to stick with it and figure out what it is. You can do it and there is no rush because this game will probably be here for a while. Good luck and if you see me in game then hit me up and I will pull you into a squad and do what I can to keep you alive and assist you with kills.

That "vibrant strafing" thing seems to be pretty effective. Does anyone know how they do it? Do you need mouse/keyboard for that? I tried with controller, but it doesnt seem to work ... Well, looks ridiculous, but I wonder how...
If you are successful with a squad or without depends on the abilities of the squad. If the squad is made of noobs you will all die quickly. If your corp complains about you cuz youre a newberry, they are a*holes. Go find a better one. You can run solo, if you have patience and resilience.
The answer to your complaint is PvE. Always.

Practice shooting with single shot guns such as a scrambler pistol or bolt pistol, but use militia equipment. You will NOT get very good scores at first, but as you adjust your accuracy will improve, it will force you to realize a few things about engagements that can't really be written out.
After you have played around with the single-shot guns for a while, using the multi-fire guns again will seem much easier.

Laser rifle is a good choice for conserving your clone count; remember that you out range just about every other rifle out there and have 100% accuracy, so aim for the head and try and read where your enemy will move to avoid your beam. Many often jump. Anticipate it. Pre-heat the laser by firing into the ground and then whip it back up and zero in on your target; when the beam hits it will be doing great damage and they'll be down faster than they can react.
Follow the herd of blue dots, but break away and flank when they engage the enemy. Always be aware that somebody on their team will be doing exactly the same, so keep your eyes peeled.
Uplinks are a weapon. Think of them as such. Plant them on the flanks of red dots or from the point where they are spawning from, what for reinforcements and support them, but don't wait for too long: surprise is an equally potent weapon.
Run cheap fits, get good with them, then upgrade to the good stuff. They'll become your force multiplier instead of a performance crutch.
That's all I can think of for now, good luck, soldier, see you on the field.
Dedicated Commando.

a training corp like Dust University would help a lot. running solo is ok once you know what youre doing but as a new player it really helps to run in a squad.
being "good" at dust has a lot to do with your choice of fittings and knowing how to use them. every fit has a niche with one or two always being more over powered and capable of blurring the line of what that fit's role is actually supposed to be. right now its a scout suit with a cloak and shotgun as I'm sure youre aware.
regardless of your choice of fit there are a few... realities in dust you must accept, knowing these things will begin to help your game.
1. don't be Rambo.... you cant be a one man army here, it doesn't work, the game is a team based fps, while there are roles for the solo player and you can be successful at it, a good squad will always accomplish more and dominate the battlefield far better than a good solo player
2.get to know your fit and optimize it asap....know the effective range of your weapon of choice, and how it handles, know how resistant your suit is and its recharge rates on shield and armor, get use to how quick or slow you move etc. once you find a good fit that compliments your play style get every skill pertaining to it to 5.
3. you're gonna die a lot.... even if youre awesome at this game youre going to die at least a couple times most battles. the average player dies about 5 or 6 times in a balanced fight and in a stomp 10 - 20 times unless they give up and hide in the mcc.
4.a good corp is a must to have a good time....this is a very social game, and the people you play with can make the difference between whether youre having fun even when youre losing or just getting more frustrated and bitter to the point you feel the game actually doesn't want you to play it.
5. just when your getting comfortable with your play style and the mechanics of the game ccp will change everything and make you feel like a noob all over again for the next build....this more than anything else, they will break what worked, fix what was broke and introduce a new flavor of the month that dominates the battle field and make you regret the way you spent your sp...but stick with your build, don't lament, being good at what you do will make for a better experience over all than trying to keep up with the latest OP fit.
6. DONT BUY ANYTHING THAT COST AURUM.... ccp has been known to change and/or remove items you bought with real money at their whim, and none of it gives you a worthwhile advantage on the battle field with a slight exception to boosters, but if you refer to 5 you can see that in the end even your sp isn't safe from the nerf bat when they make what you spent it on useless.
hope this helps a bit and good luck.
this game makes me sad....

Don't try too hard to kill guys. Make staying alive your first priority, and eventually it will even get you some good kills. This will enhance your situational awareness too.
Don't move too much across the map. Find a good place to defend and try to stay as long as you can. If there's no action for too long, find another place to do the same.
When moving, try to do it with your team mates, unless you're a scout. |
