1. Go to dust514.com 2. Open support page. 3. Create support ticket. 4. Include names of AFKers and request for competent anti-AFK measures to be taken. 5. Repeat as necessary. |

Repeat as necessary. Will that actually work? Or is it all in vain? The more people we have reporting these people, the more likely CCP are to realise it really IS as big a problem as the frequent AFK threads on the forums would indicate. Also, the more likely they are to consider implementing a REAL anti-AFK solution in place of the current one.
They do listen to the players. And when I've reported people, and commented about the poor choice of anti-AFK measure they're using, they've responded to my reports. |

Simple solution.

Monkey MAC wrote:Youmare 1,800 SP from what ever you next want. You jump in a match and find a full squad NS, WTF, AE, or any other one of those FOTM spamming corps. You know your team is full of blueberries that the whole exercise is a pointless endeavour.
Do you A) AFK in the MCC get 2,000 SP amd leave the match without a massive hole in your wallet. B) Redline Sniper from nearby kill a few mlts fortunate enough to be on the other team a d earn 2,200 SP C) Go out make a fight of it, die 37 times to the same 6 people running round in the EXACT same overpowered gear and get 1,800 SP not nearly enough isk to cover your losses and a whole lot of frustration. D) Leave and get Squat for sitting the "searchimg for contract" phase for 20 mins.
I have done C enough times to know when you come across those kind corps, don't even bother, it's not worth the effeort. You missed option E.
E) Go out into the battlefield to make a fight of it, but stick to Starter/BPO fits so it doesn't cost anything. You might die a lot, but you make your 1800 SP and don't lose anything in exchange.

Pretty sure deliberately circumventing the rules of the game is... welll.. against the rules? Yeah? Two mercs whose opinions i respect so much who are so wrong in this instance. Why are you guys letting CCP off the hook for this? How is that "letting CCP off the hook" exactly?
Every time I make a report about a player AFKing in DUST - EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. - I"m making a distinct point of mentioning that the current anti-AFK measures are woefully inadequate for the task. I'm ALSO making a point of intermittently referring back to the forum discussions which covered that BEFORE CCP EVER IMPLEMENTED ANYTHING. We clearly explained that the system CCP ended up using was a terrible idea, and covered most of the reasons WHY it was a terrible idea. People clearly defined the problems we're having now as a result of the game's poorly-implemented anti-AFK measures, and CCP still implemented a system which was known IN ADVANCE to be in some ways worse than doing nothing about the problem at all. I KEEP POINTING THAT OUT. I'm not letting go of the fact that CCP have made mistakes in how they try to control this behaviour.
People circumventing the anti-AFK measures built into the game are willfully and deliberately doing things that CCP doesn't intend. That's a fact, and that's a valid reason to report those people to CCP. But those people's deliberate violation of the intended game mechanics doesn't give CCP a free pass. If competent anti-AFK measures were implemented, it would be more difficult for people to do this, AND it would be easier for CCP to identify and track down the players who are trying to circumvent the system. |
