Everyone will cheer after fanfest, but whether or not they follow through is the real question.
Will there be any live streaming of stuff from fanfest?

I expect talk with no action.
Then shortly afterwards, a patch that break even more than the current one did.
At which point I will delete Dust and shake my head at having wasted this much time instead of biomassing my toons when Uprising showed me how it was going to go.

Expectations: - Player Market - PC 2.0 - Racial Vehicles (fall) - PvE (late summer)
Hopeful: - Player count expansion for matches from 32 to 48/64 - Medium ground vehicles - Skirmish 3.0 for PC and FW - Dust 'careers' outside of PvP (industrial, PvE etc) - Release of diverse map environments (ice, lava, etc) - Expansion of PC beyond MH
Would like to hear spoken about: - Expanding battles to full terrain with multiple battles at each of the three battlefields on each map - Combat on EVE stations/ships - Moving beyond UE3
One word of caution to people out there is do not expect this game to be multi-platform or going to the PC. So far, no game has really been able to successfully combine multiple platforms on the same battlefield (even Destiny will be segregated based on platform). Also, CCP has EVE for the PC so they want to use Dust to tap into the console gaming market. I doubt that they are going to risk cannibalization of a market that they are already firmly embedded in.

This.
I wouldn't expect a PS4 client for a while, the game has too many problems and lackluster assets. Why bring a game that everyone proclaims to hate over to a new platform? The development staff also seems too small to carry this out and keep up any kind of progress on two consoles. PC, I don't see it because CCP has said they have a PC game and they are trying to get into the console market.
I would guess player trading and/or market, a few new maps and a few new items like some more modules or a weapon or two. Maybe a new type of game mode and/or being able to call in supply depots or turrets. I would love to see a PC update that switches over to a system of hourly battles instead of the once a day crap we have now.
PVE talk and maybe a time frame but nothing released for a while. Maybe some EVE integration stuff but probably not much. I am optimistic but realistic, I think there will be some good announcements and some cool pictures but with CCP's track history I wouldn't get my hopes up too high because they take the long way and it takes them a good amount of time to get things out.

Players with high expectations will be disappointed. Players with low expectations will be happy.
I personally will cheer if I see the following:-
1. An acknowledgement that things were screwed up pretty badly 2. Details on how they have sorted that out (internal process improvement) 3. A credible and consistent high-level long-term roadmap 4. Announcement of new features that fit that roadmap, with release dates for those features
I will cry if I don't see any of it, and I'll have mixed feelings if I see some of it.

What are your expectations? Have you a good feeling?
I personally hope that the enouncment for a new platform comes. My favorite would be PC but I also hope that PS4 is coming. I think both is possible and should be done to increase numbers.
And I really hope that CCP does not present Aircastles that will not be fullfilled. I expect what past trends gravitate towards, more features that get me really hyped up but never get delivered. Also I hope that if Dust514 does move off of Playstation 3, it migrates to PC. There are more PCs than there are PS4s. And I have a suspicion that Soney having to review and approve every patched release is holding back the development and hot fixes the game needs.
Your reasoning is flawed, there are about 30 million PS3 consoles out there at the moment. This game is free and how many people play it? Roughly 4500-5000, moving to PC will not bring the game more players if the game still sucks balls! CCPs argument for staying on PS3 is also invalid for this same reason. People just don't like playing a broken game, that is a fact. The platform the game is on is irrelevant if the game does not work properly.
I own a PS4 and I can tell you that there is a distinct lack of good online multiplayer games other than the likes of CoD or Killzone. If Dust moved to PS4 I think a lot more people would play the game because there is little diversity in the current line up of PS4 titles.
The argument for moving to PC or staying on PS3 because there are more players is invalid because PC and PS3 players have a huge variety of games to play that actually work. Sure, the game might see an initial jump in player count but that would gradually drop off as people tired of the game.
If CCP actually did a good job at doing their patches and hotfixes maybe it wouldn't be such an effort to get them passed Sony. I certainly wouldn't want someone put out an inferior product with my name on it. |

I think, from what I'm hearing, it'll mainly be a 'cheer' situation.
It seems this go around, CCP will actually discuss things that are plausible to happen within a year, not a bunch of fancy sh*t they can't hope to have done.
I'm cautiously optimistic that they will announce a shift to PS4 development, at least a start. They had a prime opportunity to get in on the ground floor, and while it is still very early, the window to capture additional player base. If they can make it look good, run good, they would have a solid base to stand on (racial parity, etc.), aka, Carbon Engine. Get that baby to work on my PS4 and not melt it, and you probably have a hugely superior game.
Cautiously optimistic, but I won't be surprised if they announce the game is to far gone and they stop support, for the most part.

Well I expect they have learned a little humility after the last 12 months - I predict they will showcase everything they did last year, but add a 'no guarantees this will all make It in before next Fanfest' disclaimer.

The PS4 version is either going to have to be on Carbon (if they can get it to work) or Unreal 4 (if they want to use it). The PS4s hardware should be able for either but I haven't seen the figures for Carbon so I couldn't be sure.
From looking back at the very early demos they showed that were running on Carbon the game seemed a lot more polished, and there were underbarrel grenade launchers! It would be sweet it they have been secretly working on a PS4 version but I am not sure if they have the manpower to be working on the PS4 version while still rolling out content on PS3.
I am hoping that I will proved spectacularly wrong and that they blow us away with some massive announcement, I'm also worried that they may not blow us away and that we will all be left feeling cheated again. |
