And somehow we had fully functioning industry, market mechanics and supply lines set up
would they remove the NPC market?
In other words, would the price be hard-capped at 57k for a proto suit?

It would probably be a few days before the market went solo, the industrialist would have to build of a stock pile for us to consume but to me they would scrap the NPC.

This has been standard operating procedure for eve when CCP removes NPC control from some items.
My guess would be
A) They slowly phase out the NPC producers in order to not shock the hell out of the market
OR (and more likely)
B) Put the means of production up on the market and remove the NPC producers, then let the wild-west gold-rush commence.

Well removing NPC market just means massive inflation will ensue...At least in the beginning. You won't be buying any proto suits and forget about fighting in PC.
Does the playerbase want that? Where do you draw the line, because even the price of STD/MIL gear would skyrocket? Most of us would running starter suits cus we can't afford anything else.
But that's definitely one way to tiercide, make everything else stupidly expensive. |

In other words, would the price be hard-capped at 57k for a proto suit? Eve still has NPC markets even though the majority of the items are manufactured by players. Most of the NPC items consist of low grade things only beginning players use and skill books. With that philosophy in place I'm sure some things will be hard-capped but others will not be. Wealthy players could also buy all of one NPC item and jack up the price as they please as players do in Eve. The Eve NPCs only restock at certain times so this could be a viable tactic for all of those giant blue doughnut ISK farmers. |

A very likely scenario either way.
Eve Online still has some NPC-seeded items for sale but as someone else pointed out they are like militia-grade items that only have an almost-nonexistent impact on the secondary economy. If the full economy (warts and all) were to come out tomorrow, it is possible that both A and B will happen at the same time.
Some items will still be seeded like the militia stuff while tier-1 to tier-5 items will NOT be seeded initially like how the Tier-3 Battlecruisers in Eve Online were introduced. The blueprints for the Naga, Oracle, Tornado, and Talos were NPC seeded but only in null-sec regions of space (dangerous trip indeed) where it was easy for null-sec dwellers and pirates to jump on prospectors looking to make a quick profit with the blueprints. There was no tier-3 BC at the start which enabled industrialists and marketeers to make a massive profit on those who are impatient and willing to get their hands on the stuff ASAP at the expense of a higher price tag (paying for convenience).
But as the first two weeks came and gone, competitors throughout New Eden were finished producing these ships in bulk and thus flooded the market with cheaper Tier-3 BCs and thus balance was achieved through market PvP.

1. During inflation: buy assets
2. During deflation: sell sell sell
3. Know laws of supply/demand and how to respond
4. Dont get caught in the horde of sheeple who rush to do 1,2, or 3 only to find they were too late...

It ain't that easy with the market as many think it would be. Especially if it's linked to the EvE market. This is the main reason, why we haven't seen it implemented yet.
Some questions:
Will it be possible for mercs to travel around in the EvE-system?
If no, there will be always capitalistic smartasses sitting in the main "merc-systems" buying cheap and selling expensive, due to their wallet balance. If yes, how would it look like travelling? Would the system the merc is located influence the locations he will fight in or is trading?
All of this may sound very interesting, but to implement it need complex analysis. And of course, CCP needs to know in which direction they want to go in the future. |

tbh it took years of gradual reduction of npc supplied items in eve and i think when market comes out anything Militia would more than liekly stay NPC so new players have some form of stability.

The removal of NPC market would almost have to hinge on mining and eventual BPC production, more than a buyback option in our current market. A totally separate player market would suffice for the immediate future, allowing us to buy/sell/trade specialty items.

You guys realize, that the items have their own materials, and the prices would eventually get to the production cost. I think the materials to produce dust items will be carefully designed, to have that price of an NPC sell orders, maybe it will go even cheaper sometimes. Will be interesting to see.
