4 completely different cultures with ~14 000 years of developing their own equipment. The only ones that are even remotely similar are the caldari and gallente, and after two brutal wars, even the civillians still prettymuch just want to see the the other guys dead.
https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/TimelineThe Amarr prioritize efficiency and reliability - which is why they armor tank, pack around powerplants on their back and almost all their weapons operate off of batteries. They operate under highly aggressive but defensive doctrines - they also don't believe in 'rules of engagement', they will commit atrocities just to demoralize you. They favor mid-range defensive strategies.
The Caldari prioritize making each 'soldier' as effective as possible, which is why comparatively they're some of the best equipped and best trained soldiers on average - even though the caldari don't have a standing ground army they're the fastest to mobilize one when necessary because *every* citizen of the state has gone through a mandatory military training period. They're means of making soldiers 'effective' is to give them some of the most high powered long range weaponry, quickly regenerating shields on their dropsuits (which can be adjusted for almost anyone unlike the amarr's), and extensive deployment of equipment (like tanks). They favor long range defensive strategies.
The Minmatar prioritize simple, reliable weaponry and are not above scavenging anything they can from a battlefield to re-equip and rearm, their battle tactics favor mobility, lightning raids and overwhelming force brought to bear unexpectedly. While their conventional 'ballistic' weaponry isn't nearly as high tech or high powered as the other races, it is reliable and versatile. When they *do* favor one style of tank over another it's generally a preference to shields, though most of the minmatar dropsuits are re-purposed civilian gear - the heavy is designed to be a power lifting armor, the mediums are re-purposed starship repair suits etc. They prefer semi-short range multi-prong strikes
The Gallente prioritize overwhelming damage per shot and the durability of armor - but augmented to be quickly repaired. Plasma technology is generally incredibly dangerous to even be *shooting* as an unarmoured civilian, with the plasma rifle being able to melt the flesh off of its shooter, and the 'shotgun' if it lacked the arm brace being capable of ripping the arms off of its shooter then exploding because it wasn't manually flushed with coolant. They prefer to draw you into a close range brawl or ambush and then just punch you in the face over and over and over again.
