175m effective range vs 100m effective range and 200m absolute range. Imo Swarm range needs to be buffed to 250-300m and travel speed needs to be 1 sec for max range. Then again, that's just me and some would QQ that it's OP and some would QQ it's not enough, as I'm sure every AV player will bash me for this. As they always bash me even tho I'm constantly trying to push for AV buff, but infantry only sees me as a tanker and is instantly hating. Which is quite funny, cause it says alot about their IQ.

So I'm Axis and I'm trying to tell them that I wish you had better means take out our Tigers, here's how: the tracks are our weakness, they get easily jammed by mud and snow, we cannot cross bridges cause we are too heavy, we cannot travel far without refuelling from supply trucks, you could create high velocity weaponry that will pierce our armour, you could create armour piercing rockets, you could create bigger and more bada$$ cannons. Would the allied be like: get out of here you pesty tankers, or would they be like: thanks, I'll relay that info to HQ. Now, instead of HQ you have CCP. Anyway, in WWII they didn't need enemy tankers to tell them what's going on, they used their own brain.

Optimal for blasters is 80m, just tested it. at 200, people's info won't show up.
Also lock on range is 175m.
Best PVE idea I've seen.

I'm pretty sure it was because infantry users like YOU in particular used swarms in such a manner that they were invisible because of a glitch in the system. The invisible swarms were then abused to oblivion and back again. The fastest solution to the problem was to make sure that the user was always within render distance of the target... hence the range got cut.
Recap: Infantry exploited render range for invisible swarms Fast fix was to cut firing distance so they always render.

I went ahead and popped 1.4 million into swarms this week just to be able to at least contribute to Av in some matches. Its been hysterically underwhelming. Even tanks just stacking hp and with no reps and hardeners are absolutely pointless to shoot. I happily sat plugging 9 launches (hooray nano hives) proto swarm double cpx dmg mod with Prof 4 until the tank finally decided to try to deal with me. It was mindboggling. I don't even bother when I see a tank with 3500 plus shields I'm never breaking that. |

There are two possible reasons for this:
1. Because Blasters are the short-ranged vehicle turret, that's why they have longer range than Small Railgun Turrets. 2. Because Blasters are the anti-infantry turret, that's why they deal full damage to vehicles. 3. I lied. There's only one real reason. That reason is BECAUSE KITTEN YOU THAT'S WHY!
No, seriously, if CCP ever decide what role the Blaster Turret is meant to fill, maybe they'll be able to come up with a valid method of balancing them. I support EITHER a major range nerf to make them CQC weapons OR a damage reduction against vehicles so they're anti-infantry weapons. |
