Don't forget that some of our dropsuit fittings and vehicles are more expensive than some of the ships used in Eve.
There is no viable argument against us being able to board Eve ships and kill the clone piloting them. It doesn't really matter if a ship is lost to enemy fire or dust mercs boarding it. A ship lost is a ship lost regardless.
I'm pretty sure that a Velator costs more than our most expensive dropsuits. 500K is absolutely nothing in EVE. That's like 2 blocks of un-refined high sec ice, which can be mined in about 2 minutes.
Now, as for boarding Titan's and killing the capsuleer from the inside I say YES PLEASE!

Now, as for boarding Titan's and killing the capsuleer from the inside I say YES PLEASE! Sure, but what's to stop ccp from releasing something in Dust that would cost as much as a Velator? My point here is: anytime you take something out to play, be it a ship in EVE or a dropsuit in DUST you admit the risk of losing it. This is New Eden after all. I argue this because you can bet that quite a few Eve-pilots would protest loudly against any ideas of boarding their precious ships and assassinating their clones. They suffer from some kind of delusion that they are "better" than Dust mercs and feel that their carebear ways should place them above risk.
Nothing stopping them from doing it t all, I just read your statement as a "currently now" kind of thing.
I play(ed) EVE for 7 ish years and I'd be all for Dust mercs being able to board ships and do damage from the inside. I think it would have to be limited to titans and supercaps (at least for a long while). Also, I don't see this happening ANY time soon as we still don't have thing's that would need to be in place to accomplish this feat |

Completely agree, especially on the part where they think they shouldn't be at risk with us dusties around. Just because I'm on a console and this is a fps they think that they are above us.
They are above you...... Miles and miles above you. :)
Oh, I would love the tears if someone lost a titan because someone managed to jack the pod from the inside without a shot ever being fired on the outside.
Just imagine:
Black Ops ship jumps into system with Titan and cloaks. Approaches the Titan which just so happens to be outside POS Shields. Black Ops decloaks, launches a single probe and cloaks. Only, that probe isn't what it appears to be on scanner and quickly disappears. It disappeared from scan because it's attached itself to the hull and is currently cutting a hole for Mercs to enter through. The Titan quickly (ha, quickly) tries to get back inside shields but it's too late. 6 merc's have managed to get on board. Nanohives and Droplinks, and a new version of the MCRU all appear and suddenly, there's no longer 6 mercs, but 36 mercs on board.
The titan pilot realises what is happening and calls go out on all comms for help. At this point, the titan's friendly mercs start popping on board (after suiciding from the fight they were involved in, leaving that district open for the taking) and a new fight emerges on board.
One can dream. |
