Yes, because that's going to work for PC when you have players from Asia trying to invade a territory held by an EU corp.
And Corps with members from various regions certainly wouldn't be completely screwed by this proposal.
And someone like me who's completely nocturnal should be perfectly happy to be the only active player on their server whenever I'm awake.
For the above reasons, I wholeheartedly agree with this suggestion.
NOTE: In case you can't tell, I don't actually agree at all. It's a terrible idea. |

Locking people onto a single server DOESN'T resolve any "balance" issues AT ALL.
It's completely unrelated.
Also, region locking never fixes as many problems as it leaves unaddressed even when you're looking at what it DOES affect, which is matchmaking. The problems caused by fully unlocked matchmaking are all about lag, and with proper management of netcode and ping tolerances, you can fix more problems more completely than you can with any kind of regional restrictions. You also avoid the problems where some ISPs around the world use IP addresses which are normally associated with another region. |

Fuzzy McTickles wrote:The balancing would happen through the basic, advanced and proto game modes You made two points in your post.
I argued solidly against one of them. The other is totally irrelevant to my post. It's also a proposal that's been suggested many times before, and which I've agreed with in the past. You actually proposed almost exactly the method of enforcement I've suggested.
That doesn't negate the fact that most of your post was about the other suggestion, which was terrible. The only way regional matchmaking would be plausible is if they don't apply it to Planetary Conquest, Factional Warfare or any matches where players are able to squad up with their corpmates (pro-tip: That would be all of them). Including a good balancing suggestion alongside a completely stupid and totally unrelated idea doesn't magically make the stupid idea less of a stupid idea. |

what would you implement into the game to stop MCC camping? Uhhhh... any of the competent anti-afk measure that were proposed alongside the thorough shooting-down of what CCP ended up doing in the week leading up to them implementing the worst possible anti-afk measure they could come up with?
You haven't been here very long, have you? |

Let me take a Wild Guess here: You're American?
You dont have to have a US passport to understand the concept that Australia/New Zealand is a small and distant market. The only reasons their citizens are offered participation in many popular games is because they share a common language with the western world. You might not like it, but its a region of 22 million people that lives 11,000km away from NA. There are states in the USA that have more people in them than all of Oceania combined. There are only 300mil people in america compared to Europe's 700mil despite being almost equal size. Lets shut down the american servers aswell. Seem only rational right? *blows a whistle*Fallacy play by Richiesutie. A collection of separate European Nations is nothing like a collection of States with a strong Constitution. The European Union is not a federal government. However your statement can stand as an idiotic response to a dumb comment that was in response to another dumb-baiting comment. The argument was about a single unified REGION with lots of people in an area with comparatively short distances between the various places.
In that sense, EU is comparable to US, but to be fair, you'd need to count all of North America rather than limiting it to only US citizens. EU still has a pretty solid lead in headcount, but it's less than what's quoted in the post. |
