Anyone know what the new chevrons (as of 1.8) in the mini-map mean?
I thought they meant the individual was cloaked, but have seen a few that had chevrons and were not cloaked...

I've noticed a lot of scouts in my squad having the chevron, meanwhile assault and logistics are the same dots.

I believe it might indicate a proto suit
next time I see a blue with a chevron in the map I'm going to stare intensely at his butt to see whether or not his suit is proto

Pretty sure this is a bug.
Sometimes heavies have it. Sometimes Adv suits have it. Sometimes scouts have it. Sometimes proto suits have it.

It's the 5 new suits. If you see one of these it's either a heavy or a scout. I'm thinking that CCP meant to update every suit to have them but then screwed up somewhere or forgot.

One thing is for sure: they represent that merc's FOV.

It's the new suits, and sometimes suits that were changed by CCP. For example I've seen Min Assaults/Min Scouts with the symbol. |

When i saw this at first I thought it was a new symbol for heavies which i thought was an amazing idea. Having different symbols on the mini map for each frame size (i.e. Light, Medium, Heavy) would be awesome.
Guess they tricked me and instead of doing something great they messed up.

New dropsuits only. Someone proposed this theory, and I could have sworn it wasn't true, but after constant observations it seems that only the new suits have the minimap chevrons.

The New Chevron symbols indicate a character that has a Cloak equipped ... that does NOT necessarily mean the cloak is Active, only that the character has one equipped.
Also, the OPEN end of the chevron is the direction the character is facing ... think of it as their field of view

This. Probably a feature that isn't meant to be active yet, or buggy as hell (or both). Not exactly game breaking, sure we can all wait for a fix. |

The new chevron is listed in the list of icons as "infantry tag". I was looking at a Gal commando on the same level of ground right in front of me and he had it. Either it is a scan profile thing or new suit.
Brick tanking a scout suit since April 2013!

This actually would be consistent with what I have seen. Did you determine this yourself, or was there a DEV post or DEV blog covering this topic?

Definitely NOT cloaks or Proto suits.
I run a dual-screen two-PS3 setup in my flat, and as an ADV CalComm I have seen myself (on my friend's screen) show as a Chevron. |
