It seems disproportionately expensive for Logistics players to run true support fittings these days. By comparison, similarly tiered Assaults, Heavies and Scouts all cost less to configure.
CCP, please do us LogiBros a solid and knock down the prices of our support gear by 10% or so. We deserve to profit like every other merc.

No, end. (Old logi.)
Logi suits (And equipements) creates WAY MORE WP than all other class. Nanohives, triage etcetc gives al ot of WP, giving more iSK, totally Balanced.

The higher your position on the WP end-of-match board, the more ISK you make, so the price may already be balanced by WP and ISK earning potential of logis. Not really sure though, but I'm inclined to agree.

Not to mention, logis should die less than any other suit, as they aren't front line, they are support. |

Is that actually how payouts work? In my experience I can have 2000+WP games(no kills) and not break 200k isk.

Having had an extra eq slot on scouts, I can now relate.
Especially when you lose a match because your blueberries suck or AFK, and you are playing against proto squads, and yet you still would rather do your best than quit.
I think there does need to be a reworking of the ISK payout formula, as it shouldn't just be "blue donut/waffle" players that are farming ISK and running proto in pubs that are able to have some ISK left over in the bank account.

-1 The CPU/PG bonus is fine for the support role. With the racial bonuses working only for 1 equipment per race you should use only 1 proto equipment and the rest adv. This prevents Assault logis.
This would be also a good way to nerf the assault scouts nerf the CPU/PG bonus for the cloak. |

CCP/Shanghai does not like anything except Scouts lately.
They definitely do not like Logis. In particular if the Merc can also slay. The reasons shields are horrible is because of Caldari Assault and Logi players that shield tanked and could kill Mercs all day. Now - Caldari and shields suck. With no end in sight, by the way.
So - Good Luck.
And so it goes.

I run ADV logi and still profit. I don't think they are necessarily costly. The only time they are completely not cost effective is when you're running solo. The chances of randomly entering a pub and hooking up with a team that works well together and appreciates your help is very slim to none. Running solo as a logi sucks balls. However, running with a great team nets me great profits.

But i also agree with other people, ISK based on WP is really too low. (It depend too much on what position you are in the leaderboard) Logi are fine, in fact they are still way more powerful than the "Slayer period" but people is too blind to see it.
So Logi must not change (or receive a nerf) , but ISK system on match MUST change. Oh and, if you complain because you teamates sucks then don't bring equipements that cost a lot. Adapt.
To people that die too often in Logi suit, well change your way of playing, ennemies are not supposed to be able to shoot you (focus) hide behind covers, allies and others, the only moment you're supposed to die is when they attack from behind OR when your allies are dead AND you can't retreat to others allies.

I appreciate all the comments, but for those who didn't actually read my OP, note that there was NO reference to War Points or 'slayer' Logis. Also note (from my avatar) that I am a Minmatar which means that I am typically 10m-15m from the front line repping team/squad mates - so I am usually in a more dangerous location than non-frontline Logis. This position also makes me a common first target of the opposition. Also note, although I didn't previously mention it, that I am not yet Proto and that all my fitting goes into equipment first (and now armour rep), leaving me with just an SMG for self defence. All combined, I tend to die more than some other Logis.
In my OP I suggested a SMALL cost adjustment in Logis support equipment pricing to bring it more in line with other typically levelled (I was thinking Advanced) suits. That was all. Any other agenda can be promoted in another post.
Thank you to Lee C. for highlighting the current (significant) difference for LogiBros trying to run solo versus running with a (competent) squad. Solo is now very much a waste of time and ISK.
((Because some people have mentioned it, since 1.8 dropped I have heard a lot of people talk about how easy WPs are coming with the new Uplinks while others are complaining about how difficult WPs are to come by while Scanning. I don't specialize in either, but perhaps some WP balancing is warranted.))

the price should be lowered all equipment should be priced the same throughout all types.
if i lose 2 logis suits in any match and i'm in negative income. and these days all our equipment is so poor we can't afford to drop it on a whim so most of the time we die with it un deployed meaning isk/wp is lower.
at the same time i can earn just as much wp with my scout or my heavy and be able to die 10-20 time more and still leave with a profit.

I'm a full Logibro as well. The problem you face is one that many people face.
You are running fits that you can't support based on your number of deaths to suit cost.
Use LP gear. Do more Faction Warfare, run slightly cheaper variations on your current suits.
I run Advanced fits and profit. And LP Proto suits (which cost the same as my advanced fits from a suit cost perspective.) |

The solution to this problem is a little more complex.
First we have an incomplete WP reward system that favors equipment use over other actions such as killing or preventing hacks. What this is doing is making logi's have an advantage in WP accrual compared to other suits which I do not feel is balanced.
So what this means is that we need to come up with a list of actions that can reward WP (that are not exploitable). Once this has been balanced to give all roles an equal chance at gaining WP we can begin to talk about re-balancing equipment cost to be more profitable.
No you kill this blueberry hacking the CRU we are camping. I already killed the last 2.

TL;DR I'm an assault and i'm mad you're on the top of the leaderboard with 0 kills, you don't deserve a break.

This is not entirely true. The top WP earners that I have witnessed are very often high kill players. So, if someone has a good gun game and is running a Logi suit - ie a SlayerLogi - they still seem to have an advantage in WP earning... particularly if they can drop passive support devices like Uplinks and Hives and then focus on assault-type activities.

In truth, the biggest issue I face is trying to (stupidly) run competent LogiBro suits solo in Pub matches. I do quite well running with an organized squad. (PVE would certainly address this issue for those times I don't want to bother coordinating a squad.)
My original comment was regarding similarly tiered suits geared for their original roles - ie an Advanced Assault suit geared for front line work, an Advanced Scout suit geared for recon/flanking, etc. It seems that an Advanced Logi suit geared for healing/support costs more to configure. (However, considering LP gear is a good suggestion.)

Trying to run a logibro fit in a pub match when running solo is an exercise in burning your wallet.
Consider running "logi-lite" (e.g. Medic suit with the injector replaced with a repper or uplink) use the standard logi suit for pubs and militia plates etc. use the militia repper etc. you should be able to make a fit for under 5k. (I call those my "goodwill" suits... GoodWill being a local place to get secondhand/cheap clothes.)

I'm close to that but not quite THAT bad I run an advanced logi suit (for the 3 equipment slots), with basic armor, armor repair, 2 or 3 shield repair, a standard combat rifle, and basic or militia drop uplinks, nanohives, and nanite injectors. The whole fitting to replace it is like 19,000 isk vs. my main proto logi suit which runs about 139,000 k (I did a cost compairison about a week ago). (I'm stealing your "Goodwill" suit nickname, by the way. That is great). So running my Goodwill suit, even in a "bad" match, I am earning about 150,000...... So I can "afford" to die 7 times in that match and still come away with profit. I die more but it is less expensive. I'm also still getting the almighty SP which is what I care about more, anyways. I look at it as a positive to be honest. It makes me focus on tactics, situational awareness, etc. and my gun game has to be better so in a 1 on 1 I at least stand a chance. My aiming/strafing better be on point or I'm going to get taken to the woodshed. Running my main suit I get lazy and give too much weight to the suit/fittings instead of personal skill.
Because of that, I only break that out when I'm going to be running with a group of people who know what the hell they are doing. I'm not going to burn through that expensive a suit in a pub match. |

In pubs you are still running suits that are not "Goodwill" enough.
I'm currently running Amarr suits myself so I understand the pain of 2 equipment slots. (With Scouts getting 2 slots, I feel logi should have a minimum of 3, but I digress.)
So pick your two equipment pieces on that suit (stick & rep; stick & uplink; uplink & uplink etc. ... You choose) and run militia modules. Use a standard repper and stick ... I'll splurge on advanced R-9 uplinks for 2.5k.
3k for suit (or less if you use LP suits) 2.5 for uplink Less than 5 for other equipment.
You "should" be able to make a scrub "pub logi" for less than 10k
Less than that if you just swap out for a single single piece of equipment on one of the starter fits. (Uplink on one, repper on another, medic, and put cheap hives on the assaults. You could run less than 5k a suit then. (2.5k for frontline fit with an R-9 uplink on it.)
Pubs are about learning technique and making bank. Fancier equipment won't help with either. (I pub to FW myself ... Where suits are closer to 70k.) |

CCP, please do us LogiBros a solid and knock down the prices of our support gear by 10% or so. We deserve to profit like every other merc.
No, end. (Old logi.) Logi suits (And equipements) creates WAY MORE WP than all other class. Nanohives, triage etcetc gives al ot of WP, giving more iSK, totally Balanced. Ran an ADV injector on my ADV scout with a shotty and went 33/1 with 3500 WP. Logistics aren't the only role in the game capable of using equipment
You can get those scores with any suit under the right circumstances but a logi has way more ways to get these WP scores and normally you get those score more often than with other suits.

This is accurate although the cost of being a poor logi is much much higher, higher death counts due to being a main target (yellow kinda stands out as a bad color for someone wanting to die less) and a good majority of time not actually defending against attacks (rep duty is risky) can lead to some pretty high negative scores in a hard match.

abarkrishna wrote:The solution to this problem is a little more complex.
FYI the only suit not able to use equipment is the Heavy standard and the Heavy Sentinel. So in all reality we all can have similar WP gains as a Logi if thats what we spec into. As a long time Logi Sis there is no reason for me to stop doing logi type roles if the situation requires or would benefit from my actions in that respect. The rewards for Equipment use are relatively well balanced given that without ammo, health or clones or even a strategic position to spawn in at your ability to kill the other team is severely limited unless you know of a way to have more than 450 Clones in a battle, even then you can still run the risk of being cloned out if there is a group of exceptional players on the other side.

Bump.
Please reduce cost of Logi equipment. (WP balancing is a separate issue.)

I agree with OP. Im a minmatar logi, and I pay 150k per proto fit (and some lp) 200k per proto fit (no lp), and 75k/ advanced fitting. I'll get 2,000 WP and die twice in my 150k fit. Thats 300k. I'll be lucky if I break even. I also have and advanced caldari scout fitting. Cost 15k. ( adv light cal. frame, railgun, magsec, 2x basic shield ext., drop uplinks, and compact nanohives) I die 7 times a match and get the same WP. Not fair to the logis

Long time MinLogi, since open beta. While I wouldn't complain about an equipment cost adjustment, a lot of what I'm reading here sounds like folks still learning the logi ropes, and folks still learning the DUST514 profitability ropes. Combat logistics isn't for everyone, its WORK to do it effectively at all and takes a deeper understanding of the relevant skill trees to be able to build worthwhile fits. Most often ignored in the rush to get proto this or that is the Core Skills which boost all your suits' base stats. Stats like higher base armor and sheild increase your survivability, while the ones that raise CPU and PG will allow you to fit a piece of high-level (expensive) gear on a low level (cheap) suit, reducing potential financial losses. The financial loss element is integral to the DUST gameplay experience, and learning to balance it is just part of the game. "Do not use what you can't afford to lose" is the mantra and the best way I've found is to have the cheapest fits possible be some of your best performing fits possible. For example my STARTER MEDIC has a repper, a MD and an SMG. Its about 12k and nets me huge WP gains consistently with an almost negligible ISK investment. I can die 15x in that suit and still be profitable by a large margin usually. This though only due to the basic stats being increased by CoreSkill investment and my ability to WORK when work is what needs to be done.
