These are my opinions about various 1.8 changes, this isn't a full list, just a list of the most obvious changes.
Damage mods: -These were nerfed for good reason, and the stacking penalty is still a good thing, even with the lowered values. -Players that QQ about these changes are upset they can't insta kill anymore, and that they have to think before pulling the trigger. These players should be 100% ignored.
Shotguns: -These were always OP even at MLT level,it's just more obvious now with shotgun cloak 514 happening right now. -Why have more than 1 level?MLT can 1 shot just as easily as Pro,breach and specialist are the only reasonable changes.
Lasers: -These were always OP as well, they only suffered in CQC which made 0 sense. -Now these are OP insta kill weapons at any range with a meager drawback.
Scrambler pistols: -These were high damage high ROF weapons which wasn't balanced. -Now these weapons are more balanced, and users can't spray and pray while annihilating anyone they shoot at. Players that complain about these changes should be 100% ignored.
Matchmaking: -More balanced engagements, generally speaking... -Occasional hiccups where it'll put a team of randoms up against 2 squads or whole teams from top tier corps. EG. 6 Nyain,6 AE 4 FA. And yes i'm speaking from experience, because this has happened to me multiple times since 1.8 came out.
Vehicles: -These used to be guaranteed godmode except vs other vehicles. -Now infantry actually pose a threat to them.
Shields: -Transferring from gal logi to min logi is a real shell shock,i thought it was hard to take a shot as a gal logi,it's impossible to with min logi,a shield based logi. -Currently brick tanking with plates seems to be the only method for decent survival, which totally negates the purpose of a speed based suit. It's so bad, even my MLT starter fits can out last my ADV min logi suit. It makes me feel sorry for min assaults because they have even less lows to stack plates.
Scouts: -These used to take skill to use,and their users were rightfully feared because of it. (See the legend of Mr Musturd) -Now that they've been buffed, scouts of 1.8 have become the tankers of 1.7.They cry "we're not OP,you just need a team (team work) to kill us" And other such falsehoods such as "all you need is awareness, and eyes are OP". -Scouts of 1.8 have tasted power and benefits (bonuses) greater than their medium frame counterparts, and just like tankers of 1.7 will refuse to give an inch, and will agressively attack anyone who tries to bring them into balance. -Scouts will need to forcefully be stripped of their FOTM title with a nerf(s) of some kind,or a buff to medium frames to make them a preferable choice.

I agree an all except the Laser and the shields. Laser are still no actual threat CQC. As a new minmatar logi and former gallant logi like you i can say the minmatar logi is a well balanced dropsuite. You can have the same HP like th gallente but more in shields and have extra speed to get fast in cover. |

So basically i have to brick tank to survive... It's like you completely ignored that part of my post..

You ignorant troll obviously have never used the laser rifle, in order to kill some one in the way you described you have to heat up the laser rifle then ambush some one with it.
I don't even know why I bother.

Liar,i've used the LR in 1.7 with fantastically effective results at range. And now that the CQC is fixed it's more dangerous then ever. It's even more OP then 1.7 RRs.

in my opinion it was a mistake for the dust 514 team to make the rail rifle in the first place as they already had the sniper rifle in the game to represent rail tech.
in that regard the laser rifle is the Amarr beam laser long range equivalent (kind of) and there for should always have the range advantage over the automatic close range rail rifle.
at the moment I'm using both Laser rifle (beam laser) and the Rail rifle (a mistake imo) on my Amarr commando suit. after the 1.8 update in my opinion the Rail rifle would be balanced if it did not have the proficiency skill it still does to much damage.
I don't even know why I bother.

I agree with that 100%. At least the LR takes some skill to aim properly,so that balances out the damage. But the RR is still a pray and spray type of weapon.

The laser rifle op, dude I don't know if you haven't notice but the thing overheats, it's only able to do 1 vs 1 and you have to drop 2.7 million to even take on multiple targets. I'm sorry but I can't just sit back and let you make such outrageous false claims.
Its alright everyone, no need to worry it's just an Amarr scout :(

Scouts are fine. Scouts with shotguns are not fine.
2 sidearms for scouts.
Best PVE idea I've seen.

Most of what you say is complete nonsense but hidden in there are a couple of little truths, like scrambler pistols being fine and damage mods being okay.
The main point I'll agree with is that medium suits need their buffs, particularly assaults. That is the only thing (other than the cloak glitches) that needs to be done to bring full balance to suits. Anything else you've ever said about 'fixing' scouts is just plain wrong.
Edit - and by buffs I mean the slots/stats changes that should have happened alongside scouts and heavies in 1.8.
Dedicated sidearm scout - Watch out for that headshot

2 sidearms for scouts. single light weapon so they can suffer like most of the logis. The real issue is that a cloaked scout can switch to a weapon and shoot before the cloak turns off

The SG op?? Not since chromosome. It can barely OHK any well fitted suit apart from scouts has terrible HD issues, a terrible range and quite limited ammo. There was a reason nearly no one used it before the cloak....and on top of that the SG got a nerf with 1.8.

You have made a few valid points, but some perhaps were made hastily based on your gut reactions, possibly to a series of personal occurrences. As an Amarr Logi I understand some of your grievance. The logistics suit was not meant for assaul, but to support assaults and heavies. With these new changes do not expect to pull in 20+ kills as a Logi. I'm not saying you can't, but that's not its intended role. I consistently break 1000 WP with Hives and Uplinks and ending up 2/8. I have a tip to help (maybe), and something missed in this thread.
First off, situational awareness, pay attention to your surroundings. Watch the kill feed, and the disappearance of blue dots on radar. Also pay more attention to the suits you see, their info is displayed at the bottom of the screen when you aim at them. This information determines whether you should push the attack, retreat, or flank (this includes a tactical retreat). Scouts do seem to be the FOTM, but that's because they are a new tactic. There needs to be an adaptation to individual play styles to counter it. Which brings me to my next topic.
Active scanners have been fixed, and at the same time broken. These next few statements are my expressed opinion only. The active scanner should never have been able to do a 360 scan. Let's simplify these things by making 2 variants. The "snapshot" version could have a charge bar much like the charge sniper rifle. It can do a quick snapshot scan at 50% charge, but at less than maximum range and view angle, which allows for shorter recharges between scans. The full charge maximizes the potential range and view angle of your scan, but increases time between scans. A second variant is a focused variant. This allows a constant scan as long as the trigger is pulled. These have a maximum time allowed for scanning, a recharge time related to the amount of scan time, and can only be activated when there is at least 50% charge remaining (similar to current cloak active/inactive time meter). Targets will only stay scanned while you are scanning with this variant. With both variations scanning reduces movement to that similar to if you were taking aim.
Good luck to all of you, and see you on the battlefield. |
