Caldari: Better scan precision, meaning it's better for hunting other Scouts. Better shield stats, meaning it can pop in and out of cover rapidly and actually be recovering HP while doing so. Almost no armour, so if you lose your shields, you pretty much ARE dead already. Good speed and stamina along with the ability to carry two equipment items, one of which can be a cloak with minimal fitting problems. Lots of high slots for shield tanking and giving yourself a decent amount of HP.
Gallente: Better scan profile, meaning it's harder to find for other Scouts or enemies with scanners. Not as good shield stats as Caldari, but not bad. Built in passive armour rep, meaning you don't need to fit reppers and can regenerate from damage. Stacking plates can give good HP, but will cost a little speed. Using other options for less HP gain without the speed loss is probably better here. Unlike shields, armour rep is constant, though slower as a base. With the low HP on Scouts, though, you can recover fast enough to rely on your passive regen between fights. As with CalScouts, can fit cloak and a second equipment item, or two non-cloak equipment slots. Unlike the Caldari Scout which can only fit one dampener, these can be stacked for extra sneaky sneaky goodness (add in the cloak's dampening bonus and you can hide from anything).
Working close to a friendly Squad and using your scanning to give teammates early warning about approaching threats can be awesome for a Caldari Scout suit, and using your cloak to catch those enemies off-guard, flank or lure/funnel them where you want them. You can control enemies with superior situational awareness.
The Gallente suit is at its best when working behind enemy lines, disrupting enemy movements, pulling squads away from combat to deal with a lone enemy, and helping the team without directly supporting your teammates. It's possible for a Gallente suit to be literally invisible to all scanners, and with a cloak, you can amplify that advantage by being harder to spot even when you're in line of sight.
Both Gallente and Caldari Scout suits are great for the role, but they excel in different areas.

Having said that, I feel the gal would give me more versatility with its low slots, but I am still drawn towards the cal scout for its high ehp when only stacking shields. Is there some quality that the gal scout possesses that might really be alluring to me (in your opinion)? The real advantage of the GalScout is the ability to stack stealth and be invisible. If you're not planning on filling that role and playing as a primarily behind-enemy-lines player or a sneaky mobile sniper, you're probably better off with the Caldari suit. |
