I think it's only fair, both to heavies who are supposed to be HP tanks and are still being easily 2 or 3KOed by shotguns, and to the other classes having their rifles nerfed.
It just shouldn't go beyond a 10% damage or RoF nerf and/or greater inaccuracy at range.

Everything that shield tanks needs a shield buff except Scout ck.0

neither they are fine, it took a long time to get the heavy to where it is and this is the way heavies were meant to be. Read the description of a heavy
The Heavy dropsuit is designed to withstand concentrated small arms fire and protect the wearer from low-grade explosives. Its power-assisted exoskeleton lets the wearer use the heaviest weapons available.
What heavy dropsuits lack in mobility they make up for with incomparable defenses. Mercenaries wearing such armor have been known to survive going toe-to-toe with enemy vehicles.
All true when it was beta and closed beta. The heavy had a purpose and it was something to fear, that is why a heavy is point defense. It is supposed to take tactics to take a heavy not one on one. A heavy is the equivalent of a tank for infantry. |

I don't see the prob with heavies IMO. They are supposed to be feared and used to lock down objectives. I see way too many people going full steam ahead at heavies and it's pretty funny. A heavy with a logi in a closed objective have always been OP. You just see more now. |

Although I can't help but agree that if the SG isn't getting a nerf neither should HMG.

I have a heavy alt that I haven't used since 1.8, but I've fought against plenty and they seem ok to me. Scouts seem to do a good job taking them down in CQC, and I enjoy melting them from range with my LR as they desperately try to waddle their way to cover while their armor melts off.
The range on the HMG may need a small nerf, but it should be more desirable to fit than a light weapon. I could also see turn speeds on the heavy suits getting nerfed back to previous values. Keep their HPs high and the HMG good though.
Best PvE idea ever!

Edit: Guys, if CCP decides to nerf heavies in some way, I don't see any of us stopping them. I am leaning towards agreement that heavies don't need a nerf but at the day it's not up to us. yeah let's nerf our anti infantry weapon. got proto RR to fight back. |

The main nerf I want to HMG is the removal of that slowdown effect. As soon as you even get hit by one of those things, if you aren't nearby a corner where you can get around it in about a second, you're dead as you can't move.

The heavy ehp is under debate still
You have to remember ccp balances from top game down. Thier suits are full prototype and skills are maxed out.

you do know that 10% armor plate nerf applies to everyone who stacks those plates and not just the heavies right?

anyway... Heavies are fine. Ever since 1.8 launched, I thought, if CCP felt they had to nerf ANYTHING, it should be the HMG, and by SMALL... SMALLLLL increments. The Heavy feels fine right now. The biggest problem is cloaky scouts shotgun backstabbing people directly out of cloak. Cloak is the game breaker here.
I must admit though, when I play my heavy, it seems the HMG destroys people so much faster than any other gun... within about 30m. at Assault range, the HMG is nearly useless, and I become a damage sponge. Then a scout 2 or 3 shots me :P

Scouts right now don't just counter heavies, they counter EVERYTHING with their unscannable-ness to anything but other scouts, and their instant ambush before even fully decloaked.
