Please tell me how you are doing it. I'm desperate right now.
Every time I play I'm constantly killed by cloaked scouts...even with precision enhancers I still can't see the majority of them and I seriously don't know what to do.
It's ruining my gameplay experience, I can't play any other roll, and so many players run scout now who don't need logisical support that my efforts are wasted.
I mean I pull out a core focused on my minmatar logi and all of a sudden a scout comes and kills my heavy is 2 shots without even trying, then one shot to my face and I'm dead again.
Do you run precision enhancers to try and counter scouts? are you having more luck with a specific type of scanner? I just seriously can't stay alive for more than 10 seconds out of spawn even with a group of heavies because of how fast I die in 1.8. Even if I survive a scout attack the next guy kills me with his militia AR because I only have 50 armor left. Some of these scouts even have more HP than I do, making it even harder to defend myself.
dampeners? range amplifiers? I'm at a loss and I'm about to give up on logistics all together because of how impossible for me it is now.
In 1.7 I loved how fun it was for me to support the team, and now it doesn't even seem worth it.

People called it and I didn't listen.
1.8 is Heavy/Scout 514. I have yet to see another proto Assault which makes my ck.0 feel like a snowflake.
Learn to be aware of your surroundings, flanks, and constantly practice "back to a wall" mentality.
There's nothing you can effectively do against cloak scouts except run Gal Logi and hope you can scan them. Expect them, lots of them. It's the new FotM and Scouts are essentially beefy Assaults with cloaks, can see you before you see them, just with slightly less HP.

I either stick with a squad mate who is running a low db passive scan and have him verbaly call out reds/protect me, or stay hidden in the corner of an objective with a squad mate running a heavy suit and logi him up while he protects me. But the best thing to do is find a squad mate with a good tank and an open turret.

Shayz, I hope you realize if you're not in a squad with a Gal Logi and/or Cal Scout, you shouldn't be running your proto Min Logi anymore.
Your role is more important than ever but if you don't have the anti-scout people in your squad, yeah you're boned.
Just save ISK and run the basic gear unless you're ringing then definitely request to have the appropriate backup squad.

It's really stupid that Scouts and Heavies get distinctly unique and appropriate bonuses that apply despite how you choose to fit the suit (e.g scan bonus, stamina, hack speed, damage reduction). This allows them to utilize the suit however they want and still get appropriate bonuses for their roles.
Assaults and Logis on the other hand are slapped in the face with these terrible bonuses that only apply to a SINGLE weapon or equipment class, and if you choose to forego that class for something else because you like to customize your suit. Well CCP has decided to give a big **** you.
The bonuses are so weak. The stats are hardly justified. Just about everything about medium suits is outclassed by light and heavy frames.

My role isn't ruined, but there is nothing that I like about the update.
I still use my uplinks, nanohives, and repair tool. Even though the second and third are worsened, they are still effective. I only have a repair tool repairing another suit if it is damaged or currently engaged in battle, and even then I spin around looking for enemies behind me. Otherwise, I have a weapon out.
The worst thing about this patch for me has been the scrambler pistol nerf. it was my absolute favorite weapon. I'm still not over it.
I suggest that you take a break, and skill into a commando suit until the event ends. You will probably make your SP back and then some. I am doing that.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

I'm enjoying 1.7 logi.
They're desperately crying out for support on the field. Every hive, every tool is appreciated cus there are so few logi's left.
As to staying alive - thats down to having a good team with you. Scouts are not invisible and so few don't seem to realise it that its almost laughable. If you can get a second logi with you to cover you your good.
I don't know about scanners as such (as a long term scout I never really had need of them) I only speced into them for my teams sake, and only lvl 1 - enough to place an orbital.
But my understanding is that quantum scanners are only good if you know where the enemy is anyway but want to highlight for your team. Standard can be used more often for regular scans. As to detecting the scouts themselves I believe your best shot is the infamous douvoll focused if your not a Gal logi and you may get away with a proto if you are. If your really paranoid you can try the proxie scanner and try to catch them on the cooldown.

1st is that if you set your tv to one of the low-res settings (as advised by more than one thread poster not too long ago) to compensate for PC framerate issues, change that sh*t back, HD will let you see the cloak shimmers.
2nd I'd say we really need to be aware in a 360 degree sphere around ourselves and our squad now more than ever. Corner check always and don't be shy about pinging a couple rounds down/into seemingly "clear" corners or halls. SMG (for clip size) is a good homie here.
3rd This'll sound weird, but in addition to keeping your back against a wall as much as possible while repping, watch behind your group as much as the leash will allow without breaking. And (the maybe weird part) when your heavy is mobile from one area to another be as close as you can behind him, running backwards so you can guard that fat azz from threats that'll pop out after you two pass. It takes some getting used to, but I've popped or ID'd countless enemies this way while running back and forth with heavies.
And remember a 360 degree sphere is your awareness model, cloaks capitalize best on those with "tunnel vision"
And, of course, get those passive coreskills up (in case you haven't) for range and amplification, it'll let you get the mods and boost all your suits anyways. I know passive won't pick up everyone but you'll get some of them, and if it saves you so you can save someone else once then its worth it.

I run a very similar fit. I've found the CalLogi to be a master at setting up defensive positions. The hive bonus is huge when you start dropping proto rep hives...about like having an advanced rep tool on you.
I've had great success with it so far. I mix the suits fits up as required (balanced, hive specialist, uplink dropper, medic) and build my playstyle around the strenghts of the suit and it's working pretty well.

I had every intention of still running minm logi but cloaks quickly turned my plans aside. Then went from saving the SP to see how they changed medium suits to just going all in on commando.
CCP you better nail 1.8, as it stands 1.7 is a total disaster.

No team = you're fodder basically. Otherwise the game has a heavy direction of support the heavies and scouts at the moment. You're chances very also based on weapons and positioning. If you have isolation where it's a hallway deal then scrambler rifles and railguns will give you enough offensive metal to last.
Otherwise you're kind of screwed; vehicles are typically buffed enough to retreat and before you dish out the repair tool argument most vehicle runners will try to run all the way to the back to hide so running to them unless you're a full time dedicated repair for that vehicle is useless. Nanohives and uplinks are nice too but still if that's what you have going it's a dim world. |

Logi is a bit underwhelming for me now. I went from a Triage focused Minmatar Logistics to a Gallente Logistics focused on Scanners. I don't run Repair Tool anymore and I feel it in-game where I am often in the bottom half of the leaderboard each match now. While my team appreciates my scans, it's rare to get a significant amount of Intel Kill Assists and at 15 WP each they take awhile to add up even if I do. Since Scanners really are scaled back and rare it would be nice to see the WP associated with them get a little love. I doubt it will happen, but dare to dream.
Anyway, 1.8 has not been much fun for me so far. |

I feel you comrade Shayz. I'm not guilty of ramming people in the face with a shotgun, but from afar with a sniper rifle.
Most of all I feel sorry the LogiBros and AssaultLogi's.
Found a cloaked Logi once, funny stuff. Probably thought he was a damn slick and sneaky bastard 'til I pegged him with a headshot kill.
Btw, cloak doesn't make you OP. Your brain and your skill does. But you already know that, I'm sure.

It's weird, it seems that I am a better logibro in a squad than when I'm solo. When I'm solo and playing as a logibro, my game stinks like fresh dog poop. Pre 1.8, I was doing real well as a logibro solo and even much better in a squad.
Now when I roll solo, you might see (or not) in a scout suit.

I know how you feel shayz. These past few days have been torture with alll of these invisibros. Im a galLogi with an ADV scanner and they still don't show up on the radar. Try to keep an eye out for clacked scouts when you are logi-ing. They aren't very hard to spot while moving. The SGs optimal is like 5 meters, so stay about 10 meters away and SG scouts are toast.

Well, I'm liking it but you are a much better logi than me so I have no advice to give you. The difference is the experience you are describing now has always been my experience, it seems to have gotten better now, scanners were more my enemy than my friend even though I ran them, good squads had better ones going non-stop, now we are on a little more even footing.
