You're only as good as the people you practice against. However, this doesn't stop PFC corps from getting fights from non-PFC corps. You don't have to stay just on PFC. You can put a clone pack against any district in MH and make a battle. You can invite off-planet corps to attack you. PFC is full of junk corps that'll never amount to anything, or be competitive. They are happy treating PFC as just a nice minor league clubhouse that makes a bit of ISK on the side. Some corps on there are actually using PFC as intended and are trying to expand and improve. It is hard though to build a corp from scratch now-a-days. Pretty much since the EoN War. Because all the good players eventually flock to the already established corps, because it's just easier on an individual basis. You have a lot of talent on PFC, it's just washed in with the lackluster, so its hard to spot. I ain't got time for dat sh!t At least I'm not King ThunderBolt

Think about it like this: Imagine you just downloaded this game for the first time. You get protostomped by some guy named CUBS every match (which ironically, that was me long, long ago). But you eventually rise up, learn the game, get some SP cooking, and join a nice starter corp. You learn organization, tactics, roles, and teamwork. Now, the already established corps, who wouldn't have even given your app a second thought start to take notice. You squad with them time-to-time in pubs. You show promise, and potential. Then the big day comes. The small starter corp you're in decides they want to push further into the game. You buy a clone pack or two, and of course get the fck beat out of you. But, you're a decent player and you improve and help your corp along. Until one of those big corps comes around asks you to put an app in for them. They offer better teammates, better matches, more ISK, etc, etc, etc... You get to skip the hardest step in the process- which is trying to break into MH in the first place and stay there. Do you take the offer and leave your corp in the dust? Most would, so that little starter corp is set back even more, because they're losing on multiple sides. Instead of fighting each other they take the easy route out and ally with on another.
