Have seen a rash of this lately, actually only a couple people who did it regularly, but it is still something that could come back to bite us if not fixed.
People will spawn into matches, drop uplink(s) then suicide. Respawn, repeat. Then, likely once all the uplink s they have are out, they proceed to spawn into MCC and suicide as frequently as possible. Guaranteeing a loss for their side and relatively little expense to do so.
My thought is that if someone suicides 3 or 4 times in a match they are booted. Not only that, but they would receive 0 isk or SP for that match. I would think this shouldn't be too difficult, and could result in fairer FW as well as Pub matches (Ambush/FW being the main culprits) for all.
I know this would matter, because someone did this an entire Amb I was in, twice. We lost by 8-10 clones, and the individual I am hoping to fix went 0-24 while 4th in leaderboard WP for our side and 7th overall. We would've obviously won had this "person" not decided they wanted a faster match. He was, of course, running solo so the points never helped anyone even get to an orbital. This wouldn't harm anyone either, except occasional jihads like myself, since when was the last time someone suicided more than once unless it was to eliminate a tank. 3-4 suicides before elimination is enough to do about anything necessary, but 0-24 with a suicide every 30-40 sec is ridiculous since we can't boot the person forcing a loss on us.
There is no real reason this should actually be allowed to continue. |

u get 3-4. period. use them wisely. jihad or spawn **** the redline, ur choice. no reason to suicide 24 times and not be penalized when the team only gets 50 clones. |

see above quote. no reason either of you gave to require more than 4 suicides. |

to both of you. you brought the derpship, you got shot down. either take the suicide trying to bail, or ride the wave to the ground (that is a death not a suicide).
You can always play your current fitting out until you die in situations where you KNOW suit change isn't available.
Again, with both you made the decision that caused the suicide. And NOWHERE did I say a suit change is a problem, it is suiciding for a suit change would cost you 1 of your suicides available to a match. This equally affects/effects the rich and poor of us equally (as those with reserves currently have a near infinite suit switch by suicide then rebuy) forcing us to live with the suit we came in with, or take a death and switch if no depot is available.
Again, I still haven't heard a reason you need more than 4 suicides. |

how many dropships would you bring in during 1 match? I bet it is less than 4. |

Finally saw a good answer, about bad spawns. I see that being an issue, but unless it is an Ambush AND you have no other uplinks available it is actually NOT an issue as you only need 1 suicide to know NEVER to spawn in there again (there is always a base spawn otherwise). So it can be annoying, but unless your only ambush uplink is bad then you lost 1 suicide. still 3 more to finish off the map. I see it having issues to be addressed, but I still feel that it is a relatively inconsequential issue. Most of the time a "bad spawn" is usually put in the open with campers instead of in a glitched location, so while an issue, not serious enough in my eyes to justify a change.
As for redlining, you entered the redline of your own accord, you reap the effects of that choice. Nothin has kept you from picking up a free sniper fit and removing said redliner that way. It works just fine for me and if they can hit you, you can hit them....just gotta find the right angle. I stated this when people complained about redline sniping and I am saying it agfain for this, everyone gets a free sniper fit, so everybody can take out a redline sniper if they have the desire. If you are running into the redline to kill someone "up-close", then you deserve whatever happens with your risky decision.
Overheating is also an "issue", but as with the redlining, you chose that weapon/tactic. It has high dmg, but overheats. high risk, high reward. You had entire control over your death, so you take responsibility if you kill yourself. You could have gone into a "weaker" weapon that can never suicide/kill you, but you are left with a lower dmg weapon. I see this as just another risk, to obtain the reward that the dmg boost allows you on a heated-up laser based weapon. No other waepons have overheat, so if you are killing yourself regularly with it, you should likely move to another weapon anyway.
TL;DR -- 1) Bad spawn locations are bad, just don't spawn into them more than 1x. 2) Enter the redline at your own risk to take out snipers, free starter sniper FTW. 3) if you are killing yourself accidentally with your weapon overheating more than 4x in a match, please consider switching weapons. |

KAGEHOSHI Horned Wolf wrote:There are weapons that overheat and inflict feedback damage on the user (scrambler rifle, laser rifle), and there are weapons with splash damage (mass driver, plasma cannon). It isn't uncommon to commit suicide by accident in the heat of battle with these weapons, so you shouldn't be penalized for it. If there is a suicide limit before kick, it should be like 6. Although I can see a bump to 6, the number was arbitrary and necessary to establish the idea. I just felt 4 was more than enough. the actual # is negotiable by me, the concept is not. Most all the posters here are upset with this suggestion, and almost every one of them is giving reasons that they don't want to live with their own actions.
This also, again, would have no bearing in FW or PC, since measures are in place to handle that. This is to keep pubs free from 1 person wasting the efforts of 15 others just because they can. |
