So the MD buff seems to have worked, there's actually a few out there now and working as intended. The thing I'm noticing is people getting the high ground and relentlessly spamming without even having to get in the line of fire. Now I'm not saying nerf damage or anything that ridiculous, it's great we've got another viable weapon, but more along the lines of a reverse fuse, if they drop more than say 10m they're inactive. I know, I know "but you can fire ##m with the other weapons!1!... this is stupid... gitgud... etc... etc...". My point is for the other weapons to be effective you need to put yourself in harms way, the MD on the other hand you might have to be open for what 1/8th of a second?. I honestly have no idea if something like that could be coded or not but just an idea.

You could get out of harms way too, if your bullets arced for three seconds before they could hit your targets. Be careful what you wish for though. A scout can run across, from one side to safety on the other side, of a mass driver's splash damage area of effect, in the time it takes for our rounds to land at longer ranges. The slow travel time of our rounds is an inherent limit to our effectiveness at long range, against people who pay attention to incoming MD fire. The nanohive nerf was a nerf to all ammo hungry weapons, including the mass driver.
There have been times when the MD was OP; this is not one of those times. That anyone would complain about the MD, when there are stealthy shotgun scouts running around with remote explosives, is frankly astonishing. Time to kill with a MD is still incredibly poor. It is only effective against inattentive or poorer players. Among better, but equal players, a MD almost never wins. Up close, it almost always looses.
Its actually pretty balanced right now.
