Without the data provided from players (gameplay and forums), it would be stupidly difficult for CCP to find all the bugs, nevermind fix them. Do you really want to play a game that has been in development for a year with no live testing? DUST was in development longer than that before closed beta, a lot of it was bad. Fun as all hell, but bad. Think I'll pass on a second run.
Back to topic I've only played 1.8 for a few hours but so far I like it. Battles seem more matched and I was dieing a lot more, but it didn't feel like a cheap death. The Magsec is a beast and I think CCP got it right. It has both power and range, but the kick is high enough to make long shots a matter of skill, not full-auto luck.
I like the cloaks too, specced into ADV Gal scout to try them out. Turns out I'm just god awful at scouting, was never a fan of stealth (except MGS). So now I use it as an AV suit. Kinkats, reactives and swarms actually makes a decent tank buster/harasser. |

I agree almost completely, but before getting too GÇ£rainbows and sunshineGÇ¥ can we please not forget about the Gallente AR. The assault combat rifle outperforms it in every aspect including fitting requirements and it is generally outperformed by everything.
Give me a bit more damage and I think it will be 100% spot on. |

I have seen the vast majority of the matches I play being fair with the exception of about one or two every every 5-7 matches being wildly unfair. Even ambush, ever since the recent vehicle limit imposed, has now become more infantry focused with battles being more epic than ever before.
Yes there are still plenty of bugs to deal with but so far the fairness of the matches and the balance of weapons and suits has made DUST much more tolerable and thus enjoyable to me. This has even encouraged me to spend some aurum on boosters even.

Has anyone else noticed the matches seem much more balanced then before? I think this is another reason people complain since with the better matches you tend to die more. I've only had one domination where we red lined the other side and they managed to break it after a few minutes. Sure my squad will usually win matches but now they're fun and not just a red line fest half the time like before.
I will be amazed if CCP never bothered to fix matchmaking at this point because it feels like they fixed matchmaking. It's probably because we have new suits, weapons, cloaks, and other things that have affected matchmaking perhaps.

Actually, I'm even straying from the traditional sniper role. That's now held by caldari commandos.
All scouts now, caldari included, aren't set up for sniping. The skill bonuses make it pretty clear that scouts are no longer intended for sniping.

O.o I find that contrary. In the open ground, cloaking DOES reduce your profile but also a flickering light is a good attractor for Sniper forge heavies or other Snipers. Like me.
I'm guilty of the same, at times, really. Especially if I am in an urban area, I use cloaks move around and to scout out my enemy first, then switch to SR to pick 'em off.
Found a cloaked logi once. Probably thought he was one hell of a sneaky bastard 'till I pegged him with a headshot kill.

Have you ever spotted a cloaked scout in those open areas where the terrain is bright and the day is sunny so that the shimmer is hidden due to lack of contrast?

Actually, I have. Multiple times. Perhaps it is because I have good eyesight. You do have a point however, some older folks out there with poorer eyesight may not be able to catch them, I admit even for me it was hard. But I still look for that shimmer...and peg 'im before they get close to any blues.

I beleive its a great patch. I am loving the Amarr heavy (Sentinel) with Scramble Rifle. Havent tried Medium frame nor Scout. Have tanked a lot thou. I have lost tanks due to AV and other tanks. It is pretty fun now. Although I still fill guilty a bit when I drop one.

Someone needs to cut this out and in the place of scouts , place tanks ... and because of the vehicle changes , we had a increase in HAV usage which caused the " tank spam " and now there's " scout and heavy spam " but I wouldn't call it that really because that doesn't bother me and the fact that I understand that players are trying out new things is always a great thing .
Players finding their roles and having fun , is always a good thing .
Leave all negative comments about tanks in the bin marked " TRASH " and we'll get to it as soon as possible . Thank You

I agree. I am enjoying this build a lot, actually. I've had some really good matches today. Really fun stuff. Using a Caldari scout is really fun especially with a laser rifle. In fact, the Laser is really fun, now I'm using it more and more.
I don't think cloaking is OP. You can pretty easily see it and if you use scan enhancer modules you can see them on your mini-map temporarily. I am enjoying the hell out of my Gallente Commando and Sentinel. Forge Gunning is great fun and tanks aren't an issue for me any more. |
