... gets you to 23.79 db precision. Here's a list of things that are 23.63 db profile (assuming full skills):
- Any gal scout (no dampeners or cloak) - Any non-Gal scout with a cloak (no dampeners) - Any non-Gal scout with a complex dampener (no cloak) - And probably some other stuff as well
That 0.16 db shortfall really puts me off the enhancers... |

From what I have read of precision is that it rounds up or down so 23.79 is 24 and 23.63 is 24 and supposedly if the numbers are the same the scanner wins.
Not 100% sure on that to be honest though.

It depends on how the game rounds the decimals, rounded both values are 24.

I'm sure Medic is right. I put two Comp Precision Enhancers in my highs (Gal Scout) and I often pick up cloaked scouts. This leads me to believe they aren't running even a single dampener, which makes me lol.
There are also instances when an enemy scout will pop on and off of my tacnet, which means they're using a cloak and one comp dampener. |

I ran with two of those and I saw everyone, I saw lots and lots of cloacked scouts atleast....

The game rounds those figures up, the dB would be at 24 for both. The question is though, which one wins the scanning war when the numbers are equal? Active scanners get a scan if the dB is equal, so I'd assume passive scanning works the same. I'll need to test that with a friend some day.

Sum1ne Else wrote:what about a ist of 1 and list of 0 precision enh? (full skills of course) A Gal scout has baseline of 36 db precision, so can't pick up scouts but picks up pretty much everything else (unless they run dampeners).
A Gal scout with one complex profile enhancer has 28.8 db precision, so they'll pick up non-Gal scouts without cloaks or dampeners.
That's the general shape of things, you can go to protofits.com for more detail. |

I've switch back to one precision enhancers on my gal scout - I wasn't consistently picking up enough cloaked scouts (I'm sure most of these tourists wouldn't 'waste' a low with a damp on min/cal scouts), which lead me to believe that it could depend on how much they have invested in the actual dampening skill...
CCP could do with confirming how their math works once in a while.

If you actually fit your suits like scouts and only attack 1 guy at a time it's very easy to get real low deaths, although THA gal is slightly op when you equip two damps, nothing can find you when running a cloak or without ?
I think this puts the cal at a major disadvantage when fighting gal scouts. |

Precision and dampening numbers round to the nearest whole number.
If the numbers match, then the person is successfully scanned.
Two complex on a Gallente is good for scanning scouts who have only one dampener and are uncloaked, but since most people are attacking from cloak, now, it's of limited benefit. I would rather just switch to a Cal scout than try to go into precision with a Gal scout. |

Right... the dampening skill. Before 1.8 hit, I would see a scout and just assume their dampening skill was maxed out. Guess I need to break myself of that.
In either case, I'm still bouncing back and forth between dual comp precision enhancers and one enhancer/one extender. |

I think they used to have them, and they're listed as having them at dust514.info (which is often out of date). So maybe Stev is right.
Really this information should be in game. If they can provide HP values after modules and skill bonuses on the fitting screen why can't they provide precision and profile info. |

The point of putting 2 precision enhancers on a gal scout is that you can see every 1 trough walls and even cloaked scouts which are not gallente. And with seeing i mean they get a red chevron above their head while still beeing cloaked.

It's a shame you did all that math just to be so wrong.
x2 Complex Precision Enhancer + Lvl 5 Precision Skill = 0.5 increase in precision (0.2 + 0.2 + 0.1)
So your precision would be 20. So don't worry. You're still OP. Enjoy. |

The game rounds to the nearest whole number.
The 23.79Db becomes 24Db That 23.63Db becomes 24Db

Stacking penalties apply to dampeners despite not being noted as such (confirmed to me by a GM through ticket). It'd be very odd if precision enhancement were exempt. |

well, I'll tell ya. being able too se people is th whole point. With the cloak HP doesnt matter as much unless you are planning on playing your scout as an assault.
I have proto scouts but mostly play with my std scout with 2 complex range extenders. It gets me by unless the have lots of cal scouts finding me. Of course you have to be carefull, but I much more play a scout than a wannabe scout tanked like an assault. For that I might have well skilled into in an assault suit.

I use 2 complex precision enhancers with 2-3 complex range amps and see pretty much everyone all the time.
