Me. I never asked for them, I think they are a cheap tactic, and they are obviously just a place to burn up SP until CCP wiggles the SP laser dot in another corner for the cat.

Uplinks/Res is my favorite set-up, right now.
I reserve the cloak for when I need to play cat and mouse with an enemy Cal Scout. |

I'm still playing around with it for novelty sakes but it's only in 2 of my 4 main fittings. I see it being relegated to specific uses in my play style. I'd rather use R.E etc.

Personally, I like the cloak. It has found a nice home on my new Gal Scout eWAR fitting. Perfect for being able see everyone while being being completely invisible paired with a complex damp. Lets me position myself to stalk my prey until the right moment to strike |

I don't have it on every fit (Not enough PG on some, need the RE's and hives on others) but it's still being enjoyed. Makes my job a lot easier, though I've fallen prey to it a few times. Just can't quite decide what I like more though, three complex kincats, or the cloak... there is a bit of a thrill though in popping out near a player just to cloak again and get him to try and chase you. Played hide and seek with a single caldari commando earlier and it was pretty entertaining.

have no intention of ever using a cloak, but I agree that new scouts play and handle much different than scouts in 1.7.
Not sure if they're better or worse for the game, but we'll adapt.

The only suit I have no cloak on now is my speed tank.
Otherwise, I am having a good time utilizing it to lock down outlier objectives as well as overt assaults on flank positions with a shotgun. I've been having a blast figuring out the best ways to leverage it.

Been playing around with them to understand usage. Need more practice and understanding of when to use and how they help, but gut instinct right now is I'd be happier with another piece of equipment. But I think that's coz they're so new and I've not fit them to a play-style yet. Right now they're just putting me off and getting me killed (more). |

I haven't tried it on my Gal Scout yet but on my Min. I'm more squishier than ever. haha. Or it at least feels more squishier. Only suit that I can fit it comfortably is Proto Min Scout. On the Adv. I just ehh I can't even without sacrifing something important like my speed. [I use two sidearms sometimes instead of Light/Side combo.] |

I admit I'm using the cloak more often, but I after some trial and error with it, I have seen some not-so-obvious drawbacks with it.
For starters, the shimmer is most apparent in the shade. That said, it is not practical to use the cloak in confined spaces where there is plenty of dark areas to contrast against the shimmer. Even standing still is not helpful when people are looking for color changes in their reticule in these areas as they check their corners. I have learned this the hard way today as I have been in several maps where players on the opposing side are on the lookout for cloaky scouts.
The cloak is most useful however in open areas where you have to worry about snipers. Especially on a bright and sunny map where the terrain is as bright as the Sahara desert, the shimmer effect becomes a non-issue in this case and you're able to get around snipers and catch them by surprise. I have been able to effectively hunt snipers this way even in their own redline. The downside to this though is that if the map you're in is NOT bright and sunny but dark and gloomy instead, well... you're kind of screwed.

I haven't really found what I am trying to do this build, but just with the fitting difficulties on the minjas, I think a cloak will only be part of a rotation and need based going forward.
I like the idea of the 2nd eq slot, as I couldn't give up my REs previously, and now have the ability to equip 2 different sets/tiers of REs, as well as uplinks etc.
Its really hard to tell though, given the ridiculous amount of bugs at the moment.

Maybe I should give the cloak more of a chance. I'll try it today on a Gal and I'll make another fit for Min on protofits. Right now I think my main concern will be on getting prof 5 Nova Knives and getting my engineering and electronics both to 5. Since they're both at 4 right now. Maybe get the CPU reduction skill for sidearms and lights to 5 as well. |

You've been saying that... what's your playstyle anyways? What did you do before? I really can't tell at this point if you're just trolling or preferred being able to take fire with a slayer logi or heavy... That's literally all I can think of that would make someone say scouts are boring when you (now) have one of the most versatile suits on the battlefield.

The fit below is my current favorite. It works good with cloak as long as you use it tactically. Can't just expect to be able to storm across in plain view. Though inching along bit by bit and freezing in place helps I found if in an area with lots of enemies. Then you can wait for the enemy to pass and just turn around and blow their brains out point blank, reapply cloak then rinse/repeat until all enemies dead... lmao...

Do find yourself doing the equipment Logi thing with uplink and hive deployment?
I haven't skilled back into any suits and was wondering if a fast dampened scout would do the job better than the Logi suit.
I'm mostly thinking about tactical uplink placement. |

They can't do the job better than a logi, but they can certainly compete with a logi now. The scan profile and speed definitely helps. Still can't replace logi suits though.

Run cloak when I'm bored. Trolled a fake scout by following him around while he was cloaked, then politely no-scoped him in the head with my NT-11. With my ADV ganja I don't need a cloak, I mostly use it to troll and regen faster. Told you fake scouts not to sneak up on me when I'm sniping I'll know your there. Did they listen? No. I'm like Hawkeye; I see things better from a distance.
