I was one of you guys, I went through some severe culture shock issues with my first few games. But now ive adapted and move on. In some ways im doing even better then last build! (and no, im not using a heavy suit or scout suit).
I will say this, playing solo in this game is absolutely ruined now. Theres very few opportunities for either a lone wolf vet, or a fresh newbie to play by themselves and not get destroyed.
HOWEVER. Squad play has NEVER been better. The amount of opportunities to work together have skyrocketed! And I found the game particularly more fun whenever two squads duked it out with each other. (especially in domination). So yeah guys. Basically, the solution to almost every problem in 1.8 right now (aside from the other side tank spamming) is almost always teamwork! So try it out guys!
(and btw, I mean legitimate teamwork, not "ohhhh im in a squad just bullsh!itting around")

(and btw, I mean legitimate teamwork, not "ohhhh im in a squad just bullsh!itting around") I agree with this in general. I will say though, that what you have described is exactly why we should have had PVE in the game from launch. This allows those of us who mostly solo to have something to do other than get smashed by squads. I squad up, but I don't have any friends playing the game anymore, and I'm sure there are a lot of players in my position. This PVE argument is just plain stupid. There isn't ANYTHING CCP Shanghai could of done with PVE in the last 6 months to even year... That wouldn't of been massively under-delivered on.. And done way more harm then good after the fact. CCP are experts in the Gaming industry for creating PVP aspects in games.. There really isnt many developers that can come close to the claims CCP can make with How Epic PVP can get... EVE is at the forefront of PVP. CCP is also The best in the Gaming Industry at making Player markets.. That is indisputable. CCP - is Mediocre at Best In ANY PVE aspect they have ever attempted in the entire history of CCP The PVE First person shooter markets and the depth around it would be such a massive time investment to deliver ANYTHING that could compete with Boarderlands, Defiance, And Destiny(which will be PVE focused not PVP.)
I fully believe they can make a good PVE mode. I agree that competing with other PVE games probably wont work out. But fortunately, like you said, CCP are experts at making player markets. And what could fuel the player markets with either rare officer weapons or perhaps rare materials? What could spawn rare eve blueprints that could be sold on the eve market? PVE. And while, on its own, PVE in dust might not be able to compete with other games solely based around it PVE, it coupled with the VERY deep character customization, and equally deep player market would make it at the very least a unique and refreshing experience.
This could also go tie into FW to a certain extent. Say for example, you could choose a PVE option for each of the corporations in FW. Fighting drones may give you a standing bonus without penalty to the other competing factions (though at a diminished rate). Or each kill can net an X amount of LP depending on the difficulty level of the drone killed.
This is just one way of many that could make PVE in Dust unique and therefore a valid option for CCP to make. In addition it would also give casual/solo players something to do that doesn't necessarily mean they'll get blasted by proto scout squads. (however, I do think that teamwork should always be rewarded, and so because of that, the option to solo PVE should be there, but with much less in the way of rewards compared to a whole squad fighting together).

Meh, I think there okay now. Maybe a touch too much. But definitely beatable. Besides, they even went and said there not sure what there going to do about them yet. Something about watching the numbers to see how things are going.
