I can only think of 2 options, if there is another then I'm just not creative enough right now. (assume all suits are proto level, I'll give the scenario and the 2 resulting options after)
You place an uplink with your amarrlogi. Switch suits at a depot to a callogi. Place several hives with the callogi, then switch again to a Minlogi. What are the equipment values being used?
1) All have same value at the end as when they were placed. This means that the bonus applies to the suit that placed it, not the suit you are currently in.
2) All equipment is behaving as if there is no, and never was a, bonus applied to them. This means that it is based on the suit you are currently wearing. If this is the answer, I also need to know what happens to that equipment if you switch back to a cal/amarrlogi?
I am hoping that it is #1, but worried that it will actually be #2. Any dev or official word would be wonderful. Saw several threads like this, but no official decree in them. I just wanna know before placing that all-important SP tomorrow. |

Pretty certain that it'll be the first.
It'll likely just store what suit you were using as you deploy the equipment and use that to apply the bonus. This would make the most sense as how would it look up what suit you're in if you're dead for example.

Almost my exact thoughts, and since we are dealing with CCP, just wanted to see if this had actually been answered or not yet. |

Poorly?
Bad jokes aside, the update is downloading now. Then we get to download it. Within a few days the forums will be buzzing with horror stories of how things should work that don't, things that shouldn't work but do and we can decide what to do after we look at the skill tree and see what the actual SP/ISK cost is for our dream suit*.
Remember the SP Cap goes for a week, you have lots of time.
* Of course I already had my dream suit and now it isn't any good! Thanks for nothing.
And so it goes.

Looks like we know now, just wish I coulda gotten confirmation ANYWHERE before release, as I wouldn't haveI dumped a mountain of SP into 3 logi's. Still can suicide to keep active benefit (to my understanding), but that will likely be taken away as well.
I just need to suck it up and deal I guess, CCP must've decided to give me a "Welcome to New Eden". Sucks when it happens, and even more so when I predicted it and saw no response beforehand so went ahead and did it (idiodically thinking that this would be important enough info that they would've included in patch notes and specifically noted this info).
I wasted some SP but I already had 2 proto, the 3rd was my only addition, so I minimized my losses but ~2.5mil SP is a bit much to gather up again to make up for it. |

I would also love to know, it looks to me like either the bonus just isn't working, or literally anything will cause it to be lost, be it death, supply depot, whatever.
Option 1 makes sense. Option 2 sounds like you are just asking for lag to happen if it bases it on the suit currently worn.

Me and a buddy did some testing, here's what we have come up with so far, in the order we did things.
1) While wearing Proto Callogi suit I dropped 1 standalone Ishukone Guaged, 1 Ishukone Guaged + 1 Wyrkomi Triage, and single Wyrkomi Triage.
2) my friend had an SMG they were using, burned through couple hundred rounds then stepped into the standalone hive. (+171 ammo)
3) He repeated action for dual hive and also tested repair. by cooking nades in his hands to guage rate of repair. (+171 ammo, +77 armor**)
4) I switched suits (proto Amlogi, then proto minlogi to same effect) and we repeated the tests after a short period *there is a cooldown on suit effectiveness as I will cover at the end* (+151 ammo, +67 armor**)
5) Switched back to Callogi, all hives returned to pre-switch numbers. (+171 ammo, +77 armor**)
So in summation, your current suit is what bonus you get, regardless of switchout (with a delay*). We are looking into whether the suit that drops it matters, and will require more experimentation, but early tests lead me to believe that the suit that places matters less/none compared to the suit you are currently in.
* When you switch suits, the equipment ability switch is not instantaneous. There is a lag, similar to, and directly corrrelated to the loss of passives when using a hive or switching suits. When the passives started, all bonuses ramped down, or up as mentioned earlier, to their standard level.
**might have been 80, but pretty sure wasn't, and the minimum was also possibly 57-70 but sure the 67 is accurate (science sux when you misplace the paper you wrote it down on)
More testing to come, with actual numbers for hives as well as uplinks. May take awhile on uplinks tho, need several peeps ready to burn through the spawns with worthless alts. |

Thanks for the research guys. If this is to be combined with my own, even without Dev official answer, it seems that I just mis-spent that 3mil sp for a latent bonus. My own fault I guess. Seems ridiculous to tie that to something when it costs so much to skill into to begin with. What a blow to the logi class. Well, all my sp can now stop going into the other logis. Thanks for all the research guys. +1 to all of you!

+1 for the hard work from me too. That seemed to be the result I was getting too but I have been too busy in RL to really be systematic about it (plus my LR guide was my priority).
I gotta say, while my situation as Amarr may be a little different, this actually works well for me, because I really don't have to change my playstyle, I can still spawn in with a faster for that initial push to the objective and then spend the rest of the match in my Amarr logi suit as I always have. It does hurt the Minnie logis who had hoped to drop their equipment in the appropriate suit and then switch to the min suit for reps, but well, you're a bunch of dirty heathens anyway, so...
Seriously though, it's a somewhat odd system but I guess it does make sense that it somewhat encourages specialization and bases your bonus on the suit you actually use, not which ones you switch to at a supply depot.

You could always go with the incentive that the new bonuses have given the logi.
Use only the equipment that gets the bonus and fit more HP and a better weapon.

That's crazy talk. Are you suggesting that CCP may not have considered all the implications of their design choices? Preposterous.

I already had Proto Min Logi and all my EQ is already proto as well. I went into Proto Amarr Logi to help my team out further. I understand some of the reasoning behind the decision but that's a crap ton of sp to invest for a very limited window of usage. But hey, at least I get a sidearm finally!
