Stop the equipment spam. Just watched a guy change suits and spam every type of equipment in the game. I also watched the playability drop with every new suit he switched to. The game became downright unplayable. This is the problem CCP, not a player having 3 useful pieces of equipment. It's players making suits to spam one particular piece of equipment then changing to another to do the same. But noooo you gotta go and "fix" the problem by nerfing the legit logis like it would actually fix the real problem.
CCP you better nail 1.8, as it stands 1.7 is a total disaster.

People still do that? I assumed people stopped because they fix that exploit.

I'm happy you realize that nothing is "fixed" or "balanced-according-to-the-CCP-scale-that-is-tipped-over-to-one-side" for logies, but...
limiting total equipment to the player not the suit is stupid as hell. Do you want to be an assault player and be limited to the number of amounts you can pull your trigger, even though you have more ammo? Didn't think so.
Current support-mechanics is what make this lame.
All these ******** threads are about the same wrong thing in some way or another, let's make a short list:
- Logi suit base stats are worse than their assault counterpart. - Logi has more slots (and can compensate for the previous points.) - Passive support role or constantly running behind someone with a rep tool is boring, so I'm helping out PewPewing everyone. = A slayerlogis abuses this, a real logi needs this.
What we need is different mechanics for the support role that is more active orientated, not some bullshit correction to an already flawed system. So here is a quick solution that may not be perfect but at least a bazzilion times better.
- Make all medium suits have the same stats. - Make support role fun and active: instead of equipment use active mods or something. This way a logi gives a bonus(heal, ammo, speed, stamina recovery, damage reduction or buff,...) to surrounding allies within a certain radius or a temporary bonus to a selected ally. - Make it so that logies gain a huge damage penalty while having a mod active so they can't be the slayers while doing their support role.
I hope you'll think more out of the box next time, but it wouldn't matter because CCP won't even read this **** (or at least not act on it).

The system you want is very similar to what Guild Wars 2 did, they made all roles pretty much AOE and took away a large portion of what made GW1 fun. GW2 just turned into random mobs of people randomly getting things done. Not the defined roles and strategy that GW1 had. GW2 quickly became boring because of this.
I am a logi, asking for the problem of suits designed to spam equipment be fixed. How you relate that to an assault being restricted as to how they can fire is beyond me. Making it so one guy can't spam 60 pieces of equipment isn't going to do anything but make the game better. It's not like he is doing anything but farming WP when he drops 12 nano hives around the supply depot. He's not putting them in the field where they would be useful and prevent me from having to run to the supply depot after all. All his uplinks are right on top of one another so as you can't even tell where you would actually be spawning into.
CCP you better nail 1.8, as it stands 1.7 is a total disaster.

Let me say it this way...currently DUST is more like GW2 then...boring.
What's so exciting about the current support role that is rather passive where you drop some hives and you're useless because...you are out of hives? Your hive gone in an eye blink or your team has moved on while you go search a supply depot that in't blown up with a squishy suit (as you equipped those movement mods, to actually fulfill the LOGISTICS part of your role) far away from the majority of your team. LIMITING equipment wouldn't help this problem.
I guess we can agree that deploying more equipment CAN increase your WP gain? So what's the strategy here? Put down as many as you can...but if you play a logi as you claim then you know that that guy is missing out on a lot of WP for placing his hives in the wrong position. So maybe you wouldn't have a problem if everyone placed them in an useful position? You will still have the problem with spawning in (but maybe that's more bad design), you still have the problem of boring passive gameplay for the support role, you still have the problem of people switching out to another suit.
...and how the hell are a mob of logis who can almost do no damage get things done in this game? We're not playing GW, we're playing DUST. |

Correct, I have no problem with smartly placed equipment. Placement of an unlink can turn the tide of battle, even better if when stepping out of think air they can quickly gain their bearing because they are facing an objective. Clearly I am for tactically deployed equipment, I have no problem with going back to resupply at a depot, what I have a problem with is feeding the farmers spammed hives around the depot in doing so. I earn my WP he farms them, there is a difference. CCP should work to empower true logi's not the farmers, all they did in nerfing equipment was incentives equipment spamming to make up for the fact that you can only run one piece of equipment relatively well.
CCP you better nail 1.8, as it stands 1.7 is a total disaster.

Do you mean limiting the amount of a specific type of equipment or limiting total equipment.
A) You can place 3 hive/uplinks but placing any more (even if you switch fits) will pop the earlier ones.
B) You can place 3 equipment (2 uplinks 1 hive) and placing anymore will pop the earlier ones.
If 'A' then I agree but not so much if 'B'. [NOTE] I used the number 3 as both an example and a preference.

A, for sure. Even make the limit higher then the highest gauged variant of the equipment so as to not totally hand cuff players but cap it at something short of what a suit with only that equipment could place. (Though that totally fly's in the face of what CCP just did by giving bonus's to one kind of equipment per suit.... go CCP.)

so if, as a logi, I were to have (in 1 suit) 3 different hives.....Allotek, Isukone Guaged, and Wyrkomi triage.
Are you suggesting that I not be able to place 3 ishukone Guaged and 2 each of the Allotek and Wyrkomi Triage at once? Even tho the spec states I can have a certain number of them each out at once, without regard to other types, which is why that number changes between hives? Or stated another way.....are you saying that I could have 3 TOTAL of ANY of the hives on the suit active on the suit, but the 4th pops the 1st? Sounds awful since you drug all that crap out there, you should be able to toss it, but you always keep a spare so I see the point, just why get proto electronics/nano/engineering if you can't use proto equipment to their fullest.
Or are you saying that I could, indeed, put out 7 total hives, then if I switch suits that number would change to reflect how many hives I can have active with this suit? What happens once I get killed? What happens to any other equipment types, uplinks for example.
Or...........are you saying that if I switch suits and all stay active, the hives would then start to disappear if I placed another one. Again, what If I switch out to another suit and 3 minutes later the match is across the map as well (2 fronts are not uncommon), if I drop a hive that is unrelated to the first 7 I had out (say an X-3), does it's mere existance nullify what was out already?
All options sound ridiculous to me, but any limit to equipment has to be one of these. Just wondering what variation of crazy we are dealing with in this thread. |

Place all seven, just so long as there in unique and useful locations for all I care. But in the current system you could go get another suit with 3 more totally different hive variants and place all those as well. So hey lets call the limit 7, is limiting a player to that all that ridiculous? Add in 7 more uplinks and a field of mines on a second and third suit while were at it. is 21 pieces of enough for you? Or is limiting you to that still ridiculous? But again CCP has encouraged this exact behavior with the changes to equipment so it's all a bit of a moot point isn't it?

Yes, 1.8 Patchnotes appear to be crystal clear:
As a Logi you're supposed to spam equipment at supply depots to 1. WP Farm 2. Lag Bomb the enemy (for some reason this affects the other team more than your team)
As a logi, I'd find it acceptable to only be able to support my squad. And only the number of fronts they can manage. This, I feel would put more Logis in the field and not the brick-tanked variety.
The most OP weapon on the Dust Battle Field:
One good logi, one rep tool, and a heavy.
