I'm happy you realize that nothing is "fixed" or "balanced-according-to-the-CCP-scale-that-is-tipped-over-to-one-side" for logies, but...
limiting total equipment to the player not the suit is stupid as hell. Do you want to be an assault player and be limited to the number of amounts you can pull your trigger, even though you have more ammo? Didn't think so.
Current support-mechanics is what make this lame.
All these ******** threads are about the same wrong thing in some way or another, let's make a short list:
- Logi suit base stats are worse than their assault counterpart. - Logi has more slots (and can compensate for the previous points.) - Passive support role or constantly running behind someone with a rep tool is boring, so I'm helping out PewPewing everyone. = A slayerlogis abuses this, a real logi needs this.
What we need is different mechanics for the support role that is more active orientated, not some bullshit correction to an already flawed system. So here is a quick solution that may not be perfect but at least a bazzilion times better.
- Make all medium suits have the same stats. - Make support role fun and active: instead of equipment use active mods or something. This way a logi gives a bonus(heal, ammo, speed, stamina recovery, damage reduction or buff,...) to surrounding allies within a certain radius or a temporary bonus to a selected ally. - Make it so that logies gain a huge damage penalty while having a mod active so they can't be the slayers while doing their support role.
I hope you'll think more out of the box next time, but it wouldn't matter because CCP won't even read this **** (or at least not act on it).

Let me say it this way...currently DUST is more like GW2 then...boring.
What's so exciting about the current support role that is rather passive where you drop some hives and you're useless because...you are out of hives? Your hive gone in an eye blink or your team has moved on while you go search a supply depot that in't blown up with a squishy suit (as you equipped those movement mods, to actually fulfill the LOGISTICS part of your role) far away from the majority of your team. LIMITING equipment wouldn't help this problem.
I guess we can agree that deploying more equipment CAN increase your WP gain? So what's the strategy here? Put down as many as you can...but if you play a logi as you claim then you know that that guy is missing out on a lot of WP for placing his hives in the wrong position. So maybe you wouldn't have a problem if everyone placed them in an useful position? You will still have the problem with spawning in (but maybe that's more bad design), you still have the problem of boring passive gameplay for the support role, you still have the problem of people switching out to another suit.
...and how the hell are a mob of logis who can almost do no damage get things done in this game? We're not playing GW, we're playing DUST. |
