With the nerf to damage mods I wanted to show the community some numbers just for the public benefit. Hopefully this clears some things up for you, and will help you decide what your plan is for damage mods in 1.8
(Keep in mind these stats are with the reduction in cpu you get from the damage mod skill at 5)
So first here are the stats when you use 2 of the same kind:
Type ---- CPU/PG - Damage increase Complex - 116/18 - 9.35% Enhanced - 77/10 - 7.48% Basic ------ 39/6 -- 5.61%
Now here are the stats for 3 of the same kind:
Type ------CPU/PG - Damage increase Complex -- 173/27 - 12.20% Enhanced - 115/15 - 9.76% Basic ------- 59/9 -- 7.32% __________________________________________________________
For comparison, here are the stats for complex mods currently in 1.7 (enhanced mods in 1.7 are the same stats as complex in 1.8):
2 complex - 116/18 - 18.70% 3 complex - 173/27 - 24.40%

Actually this isn't quite true since damage mods are multiplicative (although it doesn't make a huge difference).
Meaning:
Two Complex: 1.05 * 1.0435 = 1.096 (9.6%). Two Enhanced: 1.04 * 1.0348 = 1.076 (7.6%). Two Basic: 1.03 * 1.0261 = 1.057 (5.7%).
Likewise, currently they give this:
Two Complex: 1.1 * 1.087 = 1.196 (19.6%). Two Enhanced: 1.05 * 1.0435 = 1.096 (9.6%). Two Basic: 1.03 * 1.0261 = 1.057 (5.7%).

Oh no! You mean with the lower damage guns will produce, and the lack of effectiveness of damage mods I can't just jump into a sea of red dots and kill them all in 5 seconds?
Now I have to use cover, and time my engagements out better? I have to out position my opponent and try and catch them off guard more often?
My Vizium can't 1Shot just about anything that moves?
THIS IS TOTAL BULLSH*T! I QUIT CALL OF DUTY TO PLAY THIS GAME! And just when it was starting to get crutch/twitch like... CCP comes along and ruins it!

We all wanted increased TTK and diversity on the field. I think that damage mods will get tweaked later to make them a little better but as it is right now we need to use them, provide constructive feedback once released and let them collect data and take players suggestions. I wouldn't count on these stats staying the same forever, also I hope that we see weapon specific modifiers that change more that just damage output. I would also like to see a few more mods in each tier that have lower and higher fitting costs but provide a slight change in the percentage boost of the mod.
Basic light 3% 23CPU 3PG Optimized Basic light 2.7% 20CPU 3PG Overclocked Basic light 3.3% 26CPU 3PG

CCP nerfs adv/comp damage mods by 20%/50%, new values in 1.8 when stacked will 80%/50% of 1.7 values. You don't say.

The point of prototype is to be better than MLT, the game isn't supposed to easy. Difficulty encourages specialization and emphasizes player skill at fighting and fitting. The problem with DUST is that proto suits are just better in almost every aspect instead of rewarding specialization by changing slot layout and adding specialized bonuses. The screwed the pooch by making prototype suits just better instead of different.

you want them to be better but not better but different but still better but not better yeh?
and wtf has that got to do with ttk. whatever the ttk proto are superior, just with longer ttk it exacerbates one of the long running problems with this game that noobs are put off by not being able to kill antything.

How well could you do in MLT or Basic gear? Do you rely on your skill or gear to get you through a game? I am not attacking anyone's play style here, just asking a couple of questions is all.
The TTK business is difficult to sort out though and it may be that TIERCIDE could achieve this nicely. Another point for debate.
Not sure nerfing DMG mods will help things much in the long run. It affects too many things, especially as they lowered the base damage in all the AR's and variants as well. |

Prototype mods should be better than MLT mods.
Prototype suits should be different, not just better than every other suit.

Different slot layouts and different bonuses that allow prototype suits to perform a specialized role. As it is right now a proto suit is just an advanced suit that has more of the same slots.
A prototype logi suit is only more of the same when compared to an advanced. It gets an extra slot but it is the same suit. In EVE as you move up through tech levels (and used to be through tiers) the slot layout changed, stats changed, bonuses changed and the ship became more specialized and different, not just all around better. I don't know how to explain it more with out linking a bunch of stuff but if you like I will to help. Not trying to be an ass, I am just trying to get us on the same page.
