o7 Fellow Scouts. Many of us have been playing Dust on hard mode for more than 1 year at this point. We've stayed true to the way of the scout and endured the wrath of the Mass Driver, the TacAR, Scrambler Rifle spam, and now, of course, Rail Rifle and Combat Rifle wielding heavy suits (because that's fair, right?). Come 1.8, some of our concerns - nay - almost all of our concerns are being addressed. Unfortunately, our new shiny suits will now, for the first time since Chromosome attract the average Joe Schmo just looking for a high kill count. You know the type. FotM players - players addicted to the mild dopaminergic high emanating from their nucleus accumbens that they get from "owning" some new player in a militia fit while safely in their sentinel ak.0 with 1400 eHP and a Kaalakiota RR. I don't like these people. And their coming for our new suits.
Thus, I propose a "True Scout" Grace Period. 1 Week after the release of 1.8 in which the true scouts get to bask in the glory of their finally balanced awesomeness. 1 Week in which the try hards stay at home and the true scouts can enjoy the bliss of curbstomping those proto logis of Uprising updates past.
Try Hards Need Not Apply.

For a Standard level scout, I plan on giving him a Kin Cat, a Cardiac Reg, a Profile Dampener, and a Precision enhancer. Flux nades, smg, and SCP.
I can max all involved skills by the way.
Comments?
We'll, I'm no scout expert really. I'm dedicated to the role, but I'm still a scrub (but I'm trying to be the best scrub out there!). I refuse to use anything above a standard scout suit these days - just not worth getting merked for no reason. I also rarely tank my suits at all. I go for full mobility or scanning. I'm simply a purist.
That being said, I have to say the Amarr scout was shafted a bit. If the stamina bonus were higher (such that at level 5 their bonuses equalled a complex reg, much like the way the other scouts basically get implicit complex modules) it would actually be the perfect suit, because you could run about 400 m with complex kin cats, you could jump for ages and you'd generally own. That being said, I agree with most that the Amarr Assault will probably be best as a light assault with a cloak. Maybe 2 armor plate, a green a red and two shield mods - we'll tanked, but still mobile and stamina up the wazoo to make up for your slightly slower speed. Then your cloak will probably be your best friend for direct confrontation (another thing CCP could do to balance the Amarr scout would be to give them either a cool down bonus for the cloak or let them use it for an extended period - the latter matches very well with the suit's journeyman feel) |

They will probably want something else changed to give them an advantage so watch for the QQ. What about those players like myself that simply use the scout suit only at the beginning of a game to drop uplinks. Am I a FOTM person? Oh, I forgot, I'm covering all bases and getting a proto of each suit, Assault, Logi, Scout, Commando and Sentinal... I'm just an bad-ass! lol
It's fine to use the scout for that role.......though you're missing the beauty of the suit. Scouting is a mindset if you ask me. Seriously, I started playing this game last march and I can count the number of times I've used other suits on my right hand (exaggerating obviously, but still). I and others continued to persever despite our glaring disadvantages in both close and long range combat. Eventually it came to the point that the only way to be a competitive scout was to brick tank - thus defeating the purpose of the suit altogether. |
