As a logi I have found many times that this would be useful and I'm sure others can agree. Also with the caldari sentinel coming I think a duplicated rep tool with a different colour beam or caldari re skin and the rep rate at half of the armour rep tool at each tier could be easily done.

I've been thinking about this as well, Tech.
My recommendation would be to take a page from the nanohive play book and dual function a couple rep tools. The majority of nanohives generate ammo but a few have the ability to regen small levels of armor and one that is purely an armor repair function.
I think you could have a couple rep tools that provide a small boost to shield regen while the tool is locked on...essentially jump starting the suits shield regen similar to how a regulator / recharger combo works. You wouldn't be "repping shields" per se but the effect is the same. You can pull guardian points by keeping the shields "overcharging" while the heavy is taking fire and meeting out damage.
On the same line of thought some of those Caldari based hives might be able to have the same function.
Thoughts?

This is an interesting angle.
Add a few rep tools to the existing set, but with shield transport abilities.
The devs may want to break out shield transporters to their own skill tree though, for game design reasons.

This is about logis having more options. A logi with said tool would help the assault provided a logi is carrying said tool. The shield is still hit and run.

I'd rather see something fundamentally different than just a 'rep tool'. Something like a 'shield injector' that could automatically fill a % of the shield and then cancel any further delay, but then have its own cooldown based on the amount of shield it repaired. |

Shield and armor are designed to be mechanically different. Their numerical values are balanced around those mechanical differences.
When you make them more mechanically similar then you have to make them more numerically similar to maintain balance. This will almost necessarily lead to them the same thing under two different names, which is a clear game design flaw.

rep tool no! for reason above ^^^
maybe a deployable shield amplifer that boosts recharge rate by a % 5, 10 ,25 something like that so you can recover shields faster in cover but never anything instant delay must still apply

You fools. The shield rep tool wouldn't change the way shields function at all, a logi would still need to be using it to make a difference. Shields would still be hit and run lol.

Except the tool wouldn't change the way they function would it, it'd be a logi repairing the shield just the same as armour and if you think that's op then you have no initiative whatsoever.

"Can be repaired by logis" is a huge change in function. Having to fully rely on innate buffer delay and recharge is pretty much what contrasts shields from armor.

Its not a suit function change is it, so its not op or even close, it doesn't literally change a suit to permanently be buffed all match does it? It requires a logi to do that, which requires teamwork.

It requires a logi to do that, which requires teamwork. You're shifting goalposts here. It doesn't need to change the suit or be somehow permanent to be a mechanical change
And again. The fact that shield tanks cannot rely on logis as much as armor tanks is part of their design. They were intended to work that way all along.
You don't like the way shields are designed? Go armor.

Actually malakai, anyone can mail their ideas to ccp.
Also I have 27mil sp on this char and two others, I can adv or proto everything in the game. This is nothing to do with how I like shields, you assumed that. I simply want a sield rep tool.
Again, anyone can mail their ideas to ccp.

Theres no point to argue. Especially seen as you are commenting on things you know NOTHING about and have barely even played the game lol.
As I said, I sent the mail. You have nothing left to say. Come back to the forums when you actually know what you are talking about and leave those that already do in peace.

Infantry shield reps still are a "meh" idea at best and your little excursion into ad hominem land provided absolutely nothing to support it.
And i'm out of this thread btw. We won't get along on this subject and i'm not going to wait for the next set of personal remarks.
