It's not whether it's balanced or not. It's whether they can fit. And yes, they can.
However, Gallente Research Facility sucks for sniping so that socket isn't balanced much. It's balanced for everything else, though. If it was 24v24 I'd say it would work better because it would put players outside more trying to cap the other objectives.

I was just asking because I remember either a video or a devblog stating that the maps were designed with 48 players as the reference. |

I agree but It would be much better. More players = tanks, LAV,and dropships wouldn't last as long.

Maybe you need to not walk through the open fields. Take a LAV, HAV, or dropship. If you insist on walking, take the long way.

They said that they can't add in more structures because they can't optimize it right. So really good, diverse maps won't come out until PS4.
For now we have these bland, open terrain maps with some urban sockets.

Make skirm 24 v 24, keep the 16 v 16 for dom, and make ambush 12 v 12.
There you go, balanced game modes.
If you only see from your point of view, you are doing it wrong.

What we really need is 18v18. Ever since they raised the squad cap to 6 we've been having this 'short bus' squad bringing up the rear in organized play. A small group that had to balance the roles more harshly than the other two full squads. Raising the match cap to 18 would allow three full squads giving a better team dynamic. At least, that's my take on it. |

We need more objectives if we're going to have 24v24, and I still don't trust the community with that.
It's still probably going to end up with 40 dumbasses zerging the same point and complaining about frame rate issues, no matter the map size.

Herp. Gallente Research Facility was literally their first attempt at an anti sniper map but yes the maps could definitely work in a 24 vs 24 format or more if they could ever pull it off.
