Allow me to explain
With Aurum gear, you need lv 1 to get lv 3 gear and lv 3 to get lv 5 gear. How is this not pay to win?
Please change it to lv 2 for lv 3 gear and lv 4 for lv 5 gear. It means further investment in skills is necessary and we can stop fighting full protos with less than 3 mill skill points |

Its not pay to win because its not more powerful than other hear of the same level; a prototype AUR item doesn't perform any better than an ISK prototype item of the same type.

Aurum gear isn't any better than what you can buy with isk.
If you want the really good gear... you need faction. |

They gotta make money somehow. This is by *far* one of the better alternatives although I don't think it's sustainable. |

CCP sells SP, its how it makes its money.
buying aurum gear isnt paying to win, its buying temporary SP that doesnt grant passive skill bonus.... if you already have the skills, then its just paying money for isk.

Dust514 needs to pay for Dust514 or it will go away. They had enough money to develop and start the game. No executive on any board would expect a project like Dust514 to just exist as a drain forever. They would halt Dust and make more money, it would be an easy decision.
And so it goes.

The reason for AURUM itself is to suck cash out of pockets. Straight forward and pretty obvious.
They need AUR purchases to fund Dust514's continue existence. Cool. Most of us get that.
The Warbarge lady says, "No time, no skill, buy AURUM today". Seems pretty clear to me.
If you buy an AURUM item the two skill level skip allows a customer to determine if they want to use the item. Possibly even to determine if they are any good with it at all. Of if they hate it. To get the next level in ISK all that needs to happen is grind baby, grind. Which can be decreased with boosters purchased with AURUM don't you know?
However, having to spend level 2 SP to try level 3 hardware sucks at the basic core. That is wasted SP if you don't like the AURUM version. Few things get Dust Bunnies more upset than wasted SP that will never be refunded. In EVE they state that SP is never wasted. Sooner or later you will use it. That is not true in Dust. Maybe it will be five years from now, but not now.
To balance out the pay to win of AURUM gear they enabled the Loyalty Store. So if you truly don't have the cash you can grind over there and get the same equipment. At a significant cost in time but that is a reasonable trade off.
You will never stop getting Proto stomped in Dust. There aren't enough players to get into FW on a consistent basis (try selecting only Amarr). When the player count is up to a decent (for CCP) level then matchmaking can be introduced.
This might be just the way CCP wants CCP/Shanghai to run the system. In EVE you have little actual protection from all the scum that prowls EVE. HTFU, is their normal response. I doubt if they are going to change to settle this issue. Or any other for that matter.
And so it goes.

You may be able to use the item 2 levels sooner, but not only is it identical to the ISK variant but you're also missing two levels of skill bonuses making it less powerful than the ISK variant. It's really just a tool for previewing gear so that you don't sink two months worth of SP into something that you don't like. Also, for people with too much money or poor financial sense, a way to play without spending ISK. |

Where I take issue is how people can save millions in skill points to match someone who has earned their points. Sure they're handed out like halloween candy at the moment but that only helps players with the time to grind.
CCP, feel free to close this thread. The Dust community is so divided that a suggestion gets reduced to QQ status. |

You know you can get the same ******* items in the LP-Store? I don't see a difference between someone paying money to use it early, someone paying LP to use it early and just someone who has more SP than you.
