So why has no one asked CCP about this? Hmm, makes you think about one of the comments CCP made awhile back......
Can PS4 and PS3 users play together online, cross-platform? The functionality is technically possible and some developers may choose to support it for their titles.

It's technically possible and likely to happen, however not any time soon. A ps4 port not only doesn't exist yet but is not even being worked on nor are there any plans to begin working on it thus far.

Errr... why are you talking about a port in this specific case? I think you're confused about what PS Now is.

It's not a port, look up what Playstation Now does. And I actually have tried to look up stuff on it and nothing popped up when I looked for it. Or no actual title existed. Thus which leads to have one NOW. |

I knew they bought the tech to do this stuff (formerly gaikai) but didn't know the current name. Hence my confusion.

CCP are the king's of multi platforming in the Gaming world... Better then even the biggest developers out there.
CCP wouldn't abandon everyone on the PS3... it isn't their style... There will be multiplatform for a year probably before PS3 gets shut down. |

Prediction, we see this exact thing at fanfast.
Double prediction, it runs like garbage because using a cloud service to stream a multiplayer game will end in disaster. |

Dude... you also don't know what PS Now is. Basically it's a service that lets you play PS1, PS2, PS3 games on PS4, PS Vita and Sony TVs.
Dust wouldn't go anywhere, it would just be available on a whole lot more ways.

There could be some hitches, definitely. However, knowing that Killzone 3 runs ok gives me some hope for Dust.

Why don't we just ask them this during CCP Fanfest? Plus, if I heard correctly this service will be starting I believe in late Summer? So it just makes sense, plus I remember one of the developers commenting on how they would like to see Dust 514 played by both the PS3/PS4 guys? So was that a hint for SONY's plans during that time period? |

KZ3 runs fine on PS Now? The multiplayer does, or just the SP? Any links for that, it would be super encouraging if the service handled streaming online multiplayer well. |

That much we don't know as of yet, but the way I see it. A lot of the PSN games essentially run on the same servers it just a matter of programming/networking to integrate them in the "same space" at once. |

Actually, it could perform a lot better. While the game would be running farther from your controller, it'd be running closer to the game servers. So lag might be less in some ways and more in others. Additionally, a lot of the lag we currently suffer is caused by PlayStation 3 issues, whereas PS Now could use beefed up devices to host the games that are better performance hardware properly cooled and such.

Hence why it should be asked at FANFEST 2014..... |

Well, there are beta testers using the service right now and when it started there was a leak were one player showed some footage. However, he was filming on a potato or something but he described that it worked ok, with just a few signs of latency. He was also on a 5Mb/s connection or something and that is pretty much the lowest connection you can run the service on.
After that i think the service went on a very restrictive NDA, so no further news yet.

WE DONT CARE ABOUT PS4 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stabilize the god damn game first. You all sound like script kiddies going for the latest mojo to go after. This game freezes the ps3 until its stable dont think about it and sony and ccp have a agreement until july. You will get your port, BECAUSE IT USES THE UNREAL ENGINE WHICH WILL PORT TO UE 4. there now go play in the corner....

It would be really cool if it gets supported but it's certainly not a replacement for your trusty ps3.

The Answer is YES and has ALREADY been done with DC Universe
How could CCP do it with DUST 514? Here is how I see it.
PS4 & PS3 players can play together in 32 Player Matches. Why 32 only? Cause we haven't seen a bigger game mode on the PS3 so therefore for now we on the PS3 have a limit of 32.
Then what could happen in game mode size on the PS4?
PS4 players can also play 64 or 128 Player Matches between PS4 players only (Due to hardware reasons, in the end the PS4 is alot more powerful compared to the PS3), since i'm sure that DUST on the PS4 could handle 64 players EASY and most probably 128, it's a fair stretch but this number could be even reach 256 like in MAG.
Why do I think this? Well BF4 on the PS4 is 64 Players but it's alot more heavy systemwise, as in better graphics, details, buildings crumbling down to the ground, more effects in general and still runs fairly well with 64 players. We don't have a 3rd of the CPU/GPU strain on DUST compared to BF4 , so if Dust is a 3rd of what BF4 pushes out then it's HIGHLY possible 128 players if not 256 players in the same match on the PS4
But I guess this is my POV based upon logic
DON'T SPEND CA$H ON DUST 514
CCP WILL ONLY GIVE YOU AUR AFTER THEY REMOVE YOUR BPOs WHICH U SPENT REAL MONGé¼Y ON!

Let me get this straight.
You want to play a tracking shooter with a half-second to the stream server, compounded by another hidden half-second delay to CCP's server? |

SE is the only real company I know that runs multiple cross platforming with their MMO's With 3 platforms cross simultaneously playing so far. Which is something not even DE or just about any other game off the top of my head managed to do yet at most 2 platforms. CCP hasn't either done that many cross platforms either.

I imagine PSNow will have plenty of latency that will be "okay" at best in single player games... Putting online games through it will surely make it nigh unplayable, also with it basically being emulated there would likely be no improvement over the PS3 version, possibly even more bugs will occur. |

I think you missed everything I said in my post. Like all of it.
We have lag now. A lot of it. I think the streaming service might alleviate lag in some places, while introducing more in others. Meaning, in effect, it'd play roughly the same. Not better or worse.

I agree. In the future ps3 and ps4 players will be linked and hopefully play together. Linked cross gameplay.

As it stands at the moment just having a SSD in the PS3 is a big advantage. Having players on the extremely capable PS4 playing against PS3 players with Dust in its present state would just a massively loaded dice. |
